This is a beautiful hike through the forest on single track and fire road. It runs alongside two or three creeks that are famous locally for being the site of Beechworth's gold rush in the 1850s. In one section about 2km from Beechworth there are a number of old mineshafts and tunnels - take care to stay on the trail. Most of the trail is shaded - great in summer but it can get boggy in sections during winter or after heavy rain. The trail has some moderately steep sections and is rutted/tree roots in parts. It's kid-friendly but make sure they don't wander off the trail and fall down a mineshaft...
