This is a popular route offering incredible views of Wineglass Bay. The walk can be done in either direction, but most people choose to go clockwise. This way you get the stairs up to Wineglass Lookout and the steps down to Wineglass Bay first on your hike. After walking the Wineglass Bay Track you’ll take a right, traversing the mostly flat Isthmus Track (30 minutes) and then the equally flat Hazards Beach Track back to the car park.

Beautiful views and a nice walk around the bay

Great walk! Busy up until the lookout and then empties out a bit.

Well maintained with a few up and downs. Mostly in the scrub and trees with a few lookouts once past Hazard. Two very different beaches

Clockwise better. Great walk with 2 kids, 6 and 10

I did it in a clockwise direction, and loved it (but can t compare with doing it in the opposite direction as I didn’t). The view at Wineglass Bay lookout is stunning, as well as the walk down the beach. I extended by walking 3.2km return along the beach, as the view changes from one side to the other, and both are stunning. I think the steepest part is from wineglass beach up to the lookout, so if you decide to go counterclockwise then be ready for a good hike up that side! If you start instead clockwise the hike up is not too bad, a 3/5. The rest is either downhill, flat, or ondulating. Very well marked track and stunning rocks!

Fantastic walk with beautiful conditions! we did it as an overnight walk and camped at wineglass Bay which was magnificent. I even proposed to my girlfriend on the shore! we went counter clockwise

Walked it in a clockwise direction. It took us 30 minutes to get to the lookout. It's a moderate (3/5) up hill. Once you get here it's approx 30 minutes to the bottom and 30 minutes around to the end of wine glass Bay. The Ishtmus track portion is 30 minutes from wineglass Bay to hazard Bay and all flat. Great stopping location is at the end of the hazards beach walk before you head back into the scrub. The rest of the walk is undulating for the remaining 75 minutes.

great walk. Nice, because of its larger size less people walk the whole loop. do recommend to go clockwise as well!

Definetly counter clockwise

Good trail. Well marked. Bit of a windy day making the last part of Hazards beach a bit tricky with the high tide and wind. Overall, really good.

After wineglass bay not much to see other than the hazard beach which is beautiful, still worth it to have a loop IMHO.

Good trail, well marked with quite a bit of up and down. A ton of great views and lookouts. Well worth the time to do the whole thing.

Great walk ... spent a bit of time at Wine Glass Bay before continuing on ... took 7 & 8yr old, they did well, pretty worn out by the end!

Fenomenal hiking trail with amazing views. Make sure you take enough water and time to enjoy the walk. Do the walk in clock wise direction and just enjoy the sounds of birds and wind in the trees. It is worth every second of it.

Well marked (except some minor issues in hazards), 7 miles according to my recording, 2-2.5hrs but was kind of rushing as I started 1.5hrs before sundown. great views in parts, but better from mt Amos imho

Five stars if you go clockwise; three if you go counter-clockwise. Bit more difficult of a climb up with the latter and the majority of nice views will be to your back as you climb.

Great hike. Would recommend doing it clockwise so you start with the hill climb

Absolutely gorgeous around every turn! The hike offers so many varieties of scenery, from the lookout, to the world class beaches, and the wooded mountainsides. I really enjoyed that parts of the trail were traversing over the signature pink granite of the Hazards.

This is a great trail with a ton of variety! Stair climbs, amazing beaches, very well groomed and easy to follow trail. I’ve never seen so many “big shells” as I did at Hazards beach. Loved this hike so much!

awesome day hike. we went when it was a little drizzly so nice and cool. Go clockwise and get all the steps (1000+) out of the way early

No wonder this is one of Tassie’s best day hikes.

Walking the loop clockwise puts the stairs up to Wineglass Lookout and then the myriad of steps down to Wineglass Bay first on your hike. Then the Isthmus Track and Hazards Beach tracks are fairly flat on your way back to the car park. The Hazards beach track is a bit monotonous in comparison to the views you'll see at Wineglass. Another good reason to do it clockwise - - counterclockwise and the views of Wineglass Bay are always behind you and you just get to stare and never ending stairs...

Went for sunrise to the wineglass lookout. Highly recommend it. Carpark is clearly marked. Just follow C302 / Freycint drive. we arrived to the carpark 25 minutes before scheduled sunrise and made it to the lookout just before scheduled sunrise (we walked fast). We should have arrived to the carpark 20 to 30 minutes earlier than we did (about 45 to 60 minutes) before scheduled sunrise. There is plenty of light sill and don't need a headlamp or anything.

wineglass bay is very beautiful. nice fir swimming. multiple sightings of wallaby along the hike. this trail has little shade. there were some mosquitoes; seems to increase in activity in the afternoon.

Awesome circuit walk to celebrate the New Year! We started early to avoid the heat/crowds and walked clockwise. There are lots of steps down to Wineglass Bay beach from the lookout, so walking the other way would be more difficult. Take plenty of water - the 1L per person recommendation at the trailhead would be insufficient for most people, particularly later in the day. Also keep a lookout for snakes. We came across 3 within 1 hour and were warned of another by hikers coming the other way. So tread carefully and wear enclosed shoes.

Great hike with views of wineglass bay, the incredibly beautiful hazards beach (which I preferred to wineglass beach). Hike wasn’t too streneous and easily done in trainers. Was fairly busy did this one 23rd December, but still had some alone time. Bring lots of water, it gets hot! Also sun screen and head out early to avoid heat. We did this route clockwise and was definitely easiest done this way around

One of the best short hiking trails in Tassie and certainly one of the most popular! Really beautiful views from above, but if you want to make a day out of it be sure to pack some snacks and venture down to the beach itself - you'll often find you have it all to yourself!

Great walk. The lookout was great on a Winter's day. Overcast in the morning but still amazing. I did the loop and went back to the lookout in the afternoon and it was clear!
