This route begins with the Port Davey track and continues on the South Coast Track which makes it a through hike requiring no charter flight. The Port Davey portion is much less travelled that the South Coast portion, but the entire hike is remote and challenging. There are no huts along the track, so you will need to bring all of your backpacking supplies. Parks and Wildlife Services Tasmania requires that you have a National Park Pass before entering a National Park (i.e. before flying to Melaleuca). They are around $30.
