Check out my Tasmania Trip video including this cycling trip on YouTube: Global Travel Stories https://youtu.be/qUpGqd0Og2o Maria Island (pronounced Mariah) , discovered by the Dutch in the early 1800’s and named after a Dutch governors wife. Maria Island later become a Penal colony before convicts were shipped to Port Arthur, and later a milling site. Remnants of these periods in time can be seen in the old cottages and ruins around the island. We rented bikes and spent several hours exploring white sandy beaches with crystal clear waters lined with dry eucalyptus forests , painted sandstone cliffs with their array of natural colours and of course magnificent wildlife. We spotted Wallaby’s, Pademelons, and numerous Wombats (I stopped counting at 20) that seemed to come out in the late afternoon as if to fare us well on our ferry journey back to Triabunna

je pense qu'il n'est pas nécessaire d'aller jusqu'à la pointe du bas. rien de plus a voir autant s'arrêter a French Farms et garder quand même la partie sur la gauche de french farm qui est très jolie !

This is a trail steeped in convict and colonial history. Amazing wildlife, amazing scenery and some great challenges to boot (Bishop & Clerk!)

First to Review

Well maintained tracks, most tracks are in fact gravel roads suitable for the rangers vehicles. I was hiking with a pram and even the bush tracks were suitable.
