Intercity Cycleway is a 16.8 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail located near Hobart, Tasmania, Australia that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, bird watching, and road biking and is accessible year-round.
The Intercity Cycleway is a shared pathway most ideal for cyclists for its smooth paved surface. The route follows the Derwent River upstream, starting at the Cenotaph in Hobart, and passes the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens and Queens Domain, meanders under the Tasman Bridge, and leads out to New Town Rivulet with Hobart's prized MONA gallery, and finishes in Claremont. Take care at the road crossings along the way and be mindful of others on the cycleway as it is also a popular commuter route and can get busy.
At the various parks the cycleway passes, there are facilities including: public toilets, drinking fountains, picnic areas, and nearby cafes and restaurants.
The cycleway can be accessed via many locations. The trailhead is marked to start at the car parking area near Huon Quays at the Cenotaph on McVilly Drive.
