Facilities

This trail starts at the Green Mountains day-use area, and follows the Border Track for 600m before branching into the West Canungra Creek circuit trail. The circuit descends and meanders into the biodiverse Gondwana rainforest, passes Darraboola Fools and features the tranquil Yerralahla (Blue Pool). Eventually the route joins Box Forest Circuit leading back to the trailhead. It is recommended due to the gradient, to walk this trail in a clockwise direction only as indicated. Take care when crossing the creeks as these can be difficult to navigate after rain where the track may disappear - look for the orange directional arrows at these crossings. On West Canungra Creek eels inhabit the area and can also bite when threatened so be aware of your surroundings.

There are great facilities at the trailhead at Green Mountains day-use area. There are flushing toilets, electric/fuel barbecues (free of charge), and shaded picnic tables. This day-use area is the trail-head for several rainforest trails nearby.

HikingGreat!

Open again. I went after some heavy rain this week. So the river crossings were knee deep or higher in some places. It was a hot day so it was refreshing. The path is a bit overgrown and there are branches and boulders there at the moment but still easy enough to navigate. Can be difficult to see where the track starts again at a water crossing but as long as you do a quick scan you can see it. Definitely longer than 13km we clocked about 17/18km. Few leeches but didn’t see any snakes this trip. Spotted some beautiful blue crays a long the way

HikingGreat!

Did the track clockwise, swam at 2 different spots. Saw an eel, yabbies, and a mammoth python. Our 9 yr old thoroughly enjoyed it and we all have 2 litres of water each. We took our time with lunch and taking in the beauty.

Such a great walk. Definitely go clockwise. Beautiful scenery. We started early 530am because it was a hot day. Take plenty of water. Great walk!

Hiking

Great hike. Beautiful waterfalls and waterholes, Go clockwise for a less strenuous hike. We went anticlockwise and it gave us a little more challenge ascent. We also diverted off track to take the Box Forest Circuit instead of the Box Forest Falls to get a little steeper ascent. But if you want to see all of the waterfalls stay on the track. Both tracks included narrow trails with steep drop-offs.

I loved this one. I did have a bit of trouble picking up the trail after I got to the creek but it’s definitely a fun trail to do.

A beautiful walk in the forest. So loose dirt on track which made it slippery in places. Saw 3 red-bellies black snakes

Great walk with lots of waterfalls. Was a lot longer at about 17.5km if you go the longer route past Box Log Falls. Definitely recommend this walk though.

HikingGreat!Muddy

This was an awesome walk! Countless waterfalls along the way. Definitely one to take the whole day to do! it’s a bit muddy and there are a few creek crossings that require you to wade through the water. I definitely recommend waterproof hiking boots for this one.

Nature tripsGreat!

One of the best walks in south-east QLD. Did extra exploring so clocked just over 15kms. Almost stepped on a decent sized red belly black snake sitting on the path! Take your time here, totally worth it
