At 632m Mt Edwards is the conical-shaped peak rising beside the Cunningham Highway. The national park was gazetted in 1966. It encompasses Mt Edwards, Little Mt Edwards, part of Reynolds Creek as well as a very nice gorge with pine trees on one side. Walk across the dam wall and then you come to the beginning of the track. It is well marked and rocky all the way up. From the Gorge Lookout there great views of Little Mt Edwards. Be careful at cliff edges. Once at the top there is a survey marker. As well as different lookouts offering many vantage points.

Nice even steep to moderate grade. One and a half hours up and back with plenty of photo stops plus a banana break at the top.

Good walk, need to be relatively fit as the track up is just up. The track is clearly defined with a some rock scrambling. The view at the top is worth the effort.

Amazing view!

Nice and short but quite steep, got the heart rate up! View at the end is well worth it.

Great walk. Steep inclines with loose rocks but levels out closer to the sumit. Good coverage by trees as well. Nice cafe, dam wall and awesome view of the lake at the base makes a nice bonus.

Great views. One hour to get to the top without stopping. The dam at the bottom is really nice as well. Nice views from the dam wall.

Lovely and quiet trail, tough on the legs for newbies as there are some steep sections and there is a tiny bit of rock scrambling. Great views from the summit. A good transition away from the standard, short curated tracks if you're looking to go a little more rugged than usual.

What a journey! Great track for beginners with beautiful views and a rewarding finish!

Relatively easy track up. Views at the top not of lake but rather of the Fassifern Valley. Rocky sections and consider level of comfort of children with rocky tracks with unprotected cliffs.

The Mount Edwards trail is a nicely formed track with a consistent gradient to get the heart pumping. While it is an easy walk for the most part, anyone walking with children might consider warning them about the cliff edges, as this trail is thankfully kept natural (limited artificial steps and no railings). The trail is predominantly a short hike for those visiting Moogerah Dam, and in fact begins by first crossing the dam and then following the clearly marked stairs up onto the track. From there it's a single well-trodden dirt trail with some loose rocks to mindful of kicking down in the steeper sections. Largely covered by trees it is shady for the most part, although would be hot in summer. Add to your winter hiking list like most of the nearby peaks. Highlights include a section of beautiful Grass Trees (aka Blaga / Xanthorrhoea / Black Boy) in the final section before the summit, which can take 100s of years to grow. The summit view is beautiful, looking across to Mount French in the distance (including the edge of the face we call "Frog Buttress" in our climbing community - a popular trad climbing spot). The cities of Fassifern and Aratula can be viewed below, and Ipswich is beyond the range after. A worthwhile hike - don't dismiss it because of the short duration or lack of technicality. What it lacks in length or epicness it makes up for in consistent steepness/gradient, which we included in our hiking plan as part of training for the alps. Glad we did - a beautiful afternoon.

The track was more like 7.5kms. The view from the top was great. Good walk up and down. We took our 2 kids up. There are spots that are steep with loose rocks. The kids found them challenging. We all liked it but not the calf muscles hurting 5 days later still.

Awesome walk...good workout..a couple of cliff edges but nothing too dangerous if you stick to the path ,sign marks the start of the cliffs. can be done with kids but under supervision at all times..a few trees across the path but nothing you cant climb over..watch out for your eyes as heaps of thorns and leaves at eye level...

Myself and my 8yo son made it to the summit, it was a Steep climb in places but the views ... wow .. just breathtaking ❤️ there is one lookout area about half way up which is an amazing view. The summit is roughly 1.5km past the lookout however the path gets steeper from here. Believe me the views are worth it and you can always reward yourself with a quick dip in moogerah dam when you get back down
