The standard club walk ascending the SE Ridge to the summit and then coming down to the Rum Jungle and then descending the Southern Ridge (Peasants Ridge). Fun hike with plenty of little scrambles. The views are stunning!

Great walk with rock scrambles and exposed sections as others have described. You need to be good with heights. The tack is not that obvious in places when you come steep rock sections and there are no markers like the South Ridge. Had to do some exploring and climbing to work out we were actually on the track. The trail is marked on the map correctly for GPS location, but the contour lines near the the top are wrong somehow. I was expecting a hard steep traverse of a cliff but it was a gentle climb up a ridge and easy.

Great route with lots of variety and some pretty tricky exposed scrambling/rock climbing. I started a bit late so I had to keep moving so as not to get caught in the dark. Did it in about 5 1/2 hours. Next time I’ll give myself more time to enjoy the fantastic views. There are temporary markers due to the fires.

6’2” / 30yo / M / Experienced Did this hike in 6hrs, which included ~30 minute lunch at the top and getting stuck behind people for ~15 minutes in steep areas. Quite steep with some climbing bits near the top, nothing especially tricky. Would have been a spectacular view if the clouds hadn’t rolled in. I would say there is a lack of markers leading to a minor risk at getting off-trail. Best to have some kind of GPS available to check where you’re at.

Breathtakingly beautiful track and views, but not for the faint of heart. Be at the start of the track by 6:30 so there’s still light in case you get off track. Bring heaps of water, a fully charged phone, warm jumper and inform others of your trip.

The best hike around Brisbane but certainly not for the faint hearted, it is a challenge . Most important piece of advice is to be prepared and leave early .

Classic “welcome to Mt Barney” hike for people wanting to step up from Peasents (south) ridge. New well marked trail beginning from below yellow pinch makes nav much easier.

Amazing Hike!! Easy walk to begin with and then a proper scramble at the top. Scrambling for a lot of the part is open faced so you will need to have a good head for heights. Descent is via Peasants which is easy the first bit involves sliding down rock slabs and then a straightforward descent. Take care not to get lost as most people do once they reach the rum jungle as from there , there are many routes to descent and quite confusing. The correct route down ascends for a bit and then descends.

Great first attempt at Mt Barney summit via the South East Ridge. Harder and longer then first expected.
