Except for that view onto Lake Manchester, this is not a very gratifying hike. At the moment there are butterflies and grasshoppers everywhere. The up and down is continuous and relentless. Bring aplenty of water. If you can do it in 6 hours you are fit! Probably more like 6 and a half! And also ATM, with COVID, gold creek is close. However you can scramble your way up straight across the creek from the car park to join a track that merges with this circuit and therefore bypass the closed SEQ Gold Creek reserve.

Great challenging hike! Highly recommend heading up the little mountain to the right of the track towards the turn around point.

An unrelenting up and down, out and back trail that requires some seriously sticky shoes for the shale. Towards the end of the trail, you can see boulders on your right (headed outwards). Scramble these and the view is gorgeous... well worth getting there. No water on the trail so come well prepared. If you have knee issues, I wouldn't recommend this trail because of the shale and the up and down nature of the trail. Kudos to trail runners for doing this one at speed!

Very hilly, in fact hardly any flat bits. My gps recorded the walk at 24.2 km and 1388 vertical metres. It took 6 hours 20 mins with just a couple of shorts stops. Near the turning point there are great views of Lake Manchester.

Definitely a challenging trail if you are looking at running it, very hilly. Great scenery and awesome view from the look out about 11.5km in, its tricky to spot with no sign posting though. Will definitely do it again though.
