We did this trail mid week and it was very quiet. Sunny day and fabulous farm land and undulating terrain. Mostly farms and gravel country roads. First stage was through many cow paddocks with young steers which can be daunting if you’re not used to them. They are more curious than threatening though. A couple of places to sit and rest along the way with some river crossings and much mud after rain. About 3.25 hour round trip. Great take away lunches can be purchased at the Black Ant cafe in Kin Kin before you start or on completion (book a table before you start as they get very busy). Take plenty of water as there is not really any where to refill except on private property.
Lots of gravel roads and private property/paddocks with cows. Not sure if it would appeal to trail runners as there’s a lot of gates to open and close. In terms of scenery it’s a bit...meh. Some really nice bits but the parts along or on roads are a bit boring. Good length, went on a rainy day and quite enjoyed it.
we started out in Kin Kin, did the simpson track all the way to Camphor road. First half is nice and shaded but then it opens up an d not much shade till the last klm. Couple of places to sit and relax. Great views.
