Getting There

This is a great day-hike out to Flinders Peak with spectacular views from the upper slopes toward the nearby rugged mountain peaks of the Scenic Rim and the Bremer River catchment. Keep your eyes out as Flinders Peak supports native fauna including the brush-tailed rock wallaby, peregrine falcon and the wedge-tailed eagle. This is graded as a difficult trail as the terrain is unmodified, the alignment is indistinct, and a high level of fitness and level of specialised outdoor skills including navigation are required. There are also steep rock scrambling sections that shouldn't be attempted when wet. Signage is for management purposes only so be sure to carry appropriate GPS equipment with you.

Picnic tables, shelter, toilets, barbecues and an information signage at the Flinders Plum Picnic Area.

Car parking at the trailhead at Flinders Plum Picnic Area.

Early start is good, scramble and loose gravel, peaceful scenery, marks are hard to find along the rocky part. Overall is good trek

Great hike. Loved the scramble parts, definitely slippery in some of the dry sections. Saw quite a few people unprepared, wearing basic sneakers or flat shoes. Wouldn’t recommend going without proper gear.

HikingGreat!

Absolutely amazing. if your happy with some scrambles and have hiked before I recommend giving it ago. if you cant make it all the way to the trop through the scramble its okay because theres a bunch of great spots to sit and take pictures and just to rest. Definitely will be climbing again. i dont think this is a great hike in summer due to the sun exposure. (Got a little burnt and tanned today) recommended if u can keep a good pase is 3hours rtn. we did it in about 4hrs with stops on the way for rests as its a high elevation gain and some tricky spots. would I do it again!? Yessss Definitely! is it something for a beginner hiker? not unless you've done rockclimbing before and are relatively fit. enjoy your hiking!!

Started on the Sandy Creek trail which is a pretty boring fire trail with minimal views. Doubled back to the SFT trail and took a path off that (well trodden, but fairly narrow). There seem to be several ways to scramble up to link up with the main summit track (follow the orange arrow markers). From there some decent rock scrambling to the summit, with beautiful views, and followed the main trail back to the car park.

Enjoyable hike. Not particularly challenging or technical. The scramble at the top is pretty much non-existent apart from 2 small rock faces. I’m glad I did the hike but overall wasn’t super impressed when compared with Maroon/Greville/May. Lovely view and fun easy hike though!

Challenging but fun trail. A bit more technical than a regular hike. Done this a few times now but wouldn’t attempt it in summer as it would be too hot for us. Definitely worth having a go.

Beautiful hike, very accessible but very challenging. A bit of scrambling around the top but pretty well marked and accessible to experienced hikers. Love the views all the way to the top.

Definitely challenging on lungs, legs and knees Fantastic hike with sensational views. Good grippy shoes is essential going down or end up sliding.

This was my first hike in a long time and wow it's awesome. Has everything from rock climbing, cardio, sensational views and a great result at the end. Yes it's tough but totally enjoyable. One hint- go early in the morning to beat the human traffic.

One of the best and highest hike in South East queensland. Did it the 4th time. Amazing sunset views. The trail and different terrains. It is indeed a steep climb. There was no proper trail 2 years before. But they carved a new trail which makes the climb easier. Harder to find the way through the rock scrambles when it's dark.
