Waypoints (0)

Please note: This trail is partially closed due due to damage of a wildfire. For updates: https://parks.des.qld.gov.au/parks/lamington/about.html#Caves_circuit A nice circuit walk starting from Binna Burra lodge. Either way is good, though heading down the road first means it only gets better from there... Slowly makes it's way back up to the lodge which is not strenous. Passes lookouts over the coomera river, large overhangs (not caves as such) and a number of microclimates and geological features. There are spectacular ephephytes and examples of opportunistic plants after opened canopies.

Walking

Note: loop includes 1.5km along road. Good views along the valley and some nice caves/overhangs/tunnels. Would recommend every part of the track, which means you may aswel return along the road rather than going 'out and back'.

Beautiful trail, my first time up there. Arrived quite late so just opted for a quick 5k on the caves circuit. Absolutely beautiful. So peaceful and green after all the rain.

All advice was to do the circuit anti clockwise but I took the first Caves Circuit trailhead I saw which turned out to be clockwise. Once I came out at the information centre i didn’t fancy the 1.5klm return uphill hike along the road so opted to return to the trail and return via the anti clockwise direction. I’d rather walk along a nature trail than a road. I’m glad I did as I saw so many different things including a different view of the caves seeing it from both directions. It made for a slightly longer hike but more enjoyable I think.

A lovely trail with a mix of rainforest and caves. The caves are beautiful and my kids loved exploring the stairs and 'tunnel.'

HikingGreat!

Great trail, with steps and a beautiful cave. Easy to moderate depending on fitness. Would definately go again. Check out the Flying Bean Cafe on the way home. We sat there for an hour watching the large remote contolled planes.

Nice walk. The 1.5k along the road is a bit annoying. We went clockwise but should have gone clockwise to walk down the road instead of up. Quite a lot of weeds along trail after rain. Would be quite hot if full sun so better on cloudy day as much of track no tree cover. Caves are good.

Great hike that all the family can enjoy. There is a section where you need to walk along the road, so I think anti-clockwise is best. The caves are more like rock indentations, you wont find any bats, but there is water trickling down them. Near one of the caves you will see a large native wasp nest, but they wont bother you, its far away and high up. You will see lots of mushrooms on this walk.

Good walk for those looking for a moderate track, that takes about 1.2 hours to complete. Great views.

Beautiful walk, fabulous views, there is quite a few steps, which it doesn’t state in my hiking book and could be a problem for some. Road is closed to complete loop. I started at the bottom near info centre, had a cuppa at tea house then returned on same track which is just as spectacular second time around. Approx 8 km due to road closure. You get to experience the dry and overgrown from the bushfires, along with the beauty of rainforest. Plenty of bird life which was amazing. A good variety trail. Beautiful cave, some steep sections, which could worry people anxious about heights.

the road part of the trail is closed, it's steep and rocky but an awesome cave at the bottom worth getting to. We did see one red belly on our way back out. starting to become overgrown with all the fresh growth and alot of stinging plants.

The track is now partially open. While you can’t do the whole loop the section between the lodge and information centre via the caves is open, which just means you need to return on the same track. This isn’t a major issue since the view from this section are great.
