This is a great track not far from Gold Coast. Head to the car park near O’reilly’s rainforest retreat to start the walk. Heading out on the Border Track through the lush Gondwana Rainforest before descending on switchback trails to Canungra Creek and the box forest circuit walk. At the junction with Canungra Creek follow the track to the right as it follows the creek south to Box Log Falls. As you begin the climb out of the valley you’ll pass Elabana Falls and Picnic Rock before retracing your steps back to the car park. Being in a rainforest, the tracks here can be muddy and slippery, so adequate footwear is recommended. Timing your walk here after a good rain will provide you with the best experiences at the falls along the circuit, and outside of the few creek crossings the route is relatively mild.

Awesome hike. Best to walk clockwise so you can see waterfalls as you’re approaching. Really really enjoyable day.

Such an amazing walk! So pretty and lush and the waterfalls along the way were absolutely breathtaking (my favourite was Box Lodge Falls). We did this walk after a massive storm, so it was quite muddy, we took our time and stopped at the waterfalls for about 45 minutes total and completed in just under 5 hours. Although this walk was 5 hours, it didn’t feel like it! So much to see along the way, absolutely loved it! Just an FYI, AllTrails states this walk is roughly 10.3kms, however including the entrance trail, the track ended up being 25kms all up... (I don’t know if that is correct?).

So much fun. A little muddy. Did the full Box Forest Circuit track to Elabana. Ran most of it (slippery at parts)- took less than 3 hours (with 30 mins at the falls). Gorgeous! Swimming under the falls was a little cold! Careful of snakes!

Beautiful hike! Semi challenging. Be sure to wear sturdy footwear as it’s muddy and slippery after rain. Waterfalls were awesome.. keep an eye out for blue crayfish :)

This is an amazing track - Is a moderate and enjoyable hike IMO with a lot of different water falls and streams throughout the hike to be enjoyed. Is perfect if you are looking for a decent half day hike if you just slow down and enjoy the scenery instead of burning through it. Get there very early and you will likely enjoy the trail almost to your self ;) I recommend just stopping regularly, closing your eyes and soaking in the sounds of the birds, insects and nearby rushing water and streams. Recent rain meant there was a lot of water in the streams and falls but also a little bit of mud but is to be expected for trail such as this and not an issue. Possibly a few leeches as well if you do the stream cross through the water but are harmless ;) You can cross the fallen log instead of going in the water- I chose the water and almost slipped on an algae covered rock - so take this easy - but is part of the fun. You can do the Box Forest circuit section clock-wise or counter and does not matter or make a difference at all - plenty to see regardless so just do you. Enjoy - this is an excellent trail!!

This was a beautiful trail with lots to see. Waterfalls were spectacular after the rain. Managed the walk easily but make sure to bring insect repellent as there were quite a few leaches! We did the walk in a clockwise fashion with lots of photo opportunities along the way!

Awesome walk however came across multiple big red belly black snakes basking on the trail along the way an some of them are quite hard to get to move, suggest excercising extreme caution at this time of year

Hiking

Great hike with moderate difficulty, it was a little muddy in sections. Beautiful little water falls and creek made it very worthwhile. This was the 1st time using this app and I made a rookie error of not loading the map prior to starting the hike and phone service was poor and intermittent. We somehow missed the circuit junction and followed the trail along the creek. We are not sure if it was poorly signed (or not signed at all) or if our attention was elsewhere, but the circuit junction was not obvious. We did not become aware of our error until we were a few kms down the trail along the creek. We turned back for a km, then the phone kicked in and we realised it was less distance continue along the West Canungra Creek track back to O'Reillys. What was planned to be an easy 8km hike turned into 16km! It would have been about 14km if we didnt turn back. It made it a long hike for my wife and kids and we were lucky to get back before dark. After reading other reviews, it appears this is a common error as several other people found the hike to be 13 to 14kms.

Just completed this trail. It was 13.5kms. Had my 9yo son with me who isn’t experienced in bushwalking etc and he handled this quite well. The waterfalls were quite tame but it hasn’t rained in a while. Tracks were manageable but some places are quite narrow so you need to watch your footing. We took our trekking poles and I’m so glad I did. Take plenty of water with you. Hope to come back to do more of the trails.
