On 17 December 1845 Ludwig Leichhardt & his fellow explorers arrived at Victoria Settlement,  Port Essington after their marathon 4800 km. overland expedition from Southern Queensland.  They arrived unannounced & to the great surprise of the soldiers & settlers of this remote outpost. 170 years later this route will show the way to honour the achievement of Leichhardt & his party by arriving at this outpost - overland & unannounced.
