Wattamolla to Eagle Rock is a 4.5 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Royal National Park, New South Wales, Australia that offers the chance to see wildlife and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and running.
An easy day hike track that follows a section of the Coast Track that runs from Otford to Bundeena. Partly on a raised boardwalk, along the coastline with great coastal views. The trailhead is not marked clearly marked, it is located near the car park at the top section of Wattamolla car park at the end of Wattamolla Road or through a rocky section of the Wattamolla beach lookout. The walk is not accessible by public transport. You can continue the walk north to Bundeena, Jibbo Beach, Shelly Beach, Marley Beach and Little Marley Beach. Or south to North Era Campground Garie Beach. Otford Lookout, the Figure Eight Pools and Garie Beach. Be sure to visit the beach or the swimming hole at Wattamolla while there.
Nice easy walk mainly on boardwalks with great views of coastline Walk is exposed to weather
They have added a new part to the coastal track to join Providential Point to the rest of the coastal track so we started the walk there. Mostly an easy raised trail with a few fun rocky steps and paths to keep things interesting. Very exposed with little shade cover. All round fun and easy walk with regular stunning views.
Lovely trail - friendly for even young kids. Not much animal life as too exposed. Get there before 8.30! Kept going to Garey Beach as it was so nice
Important to know is the start of the track is currently not open, which is very poorly sign posted, which means the map on this app is inaccurate Instead follow the signs initially to the Beach Stairs, then right towards the lookout. From the lookout you follow the path along up along the coast. After a litttle while you'll see some fencing where the path has been blocked which is where they decided to put a sign. Apart from that annoyance the track is great. The views are amazing and a lot of the track is on a raised path.
Went for hike with kids and observe waterfall flowing in reverse due to wind speed... Note. Costal track entry from carpark is closed. But one can join costal track via providential point lookout. #reversewaterfall #rainbow #sea captured in one frame.
Beautiful hike. Category easy to moderate. Great views along the trail - we saw quite a few whales around 11am. Don’t wear thongs but proper footwear. Eagle rock and Curracurrong falls are worth a visit. Better than Wedding Cake rock in my opinion. Mostly no phone reception.
Absolutely stunning walk!! And the end is even better- we turned off the track a little earlier than the track told us too as there was a slight trail, and it took us to be on top on eagle rock to get beautiful photos
