The old adage what goes up must come down (and vice versa) is definitely applicable to this walk! Very invigorating travelling along the coast and breathing in the salty ocean air. There’s a lot of varied scenery and terrain along the way to soak up. Definitely closer to 30km. This time of the year you probably wouldn’t want to leave Bundeena any later than 8am.

Hiked North to South May 2019. A solid day, much of the track is now boardwalk, amazing beaches and cliff views. Parking at Cronulla and using the ferry to Bundeena then train from Otford to Cronulla works well. I measured 28kms.

Anyone need to disconnect from the ordinary daily grind north Era is a wonderful place to spend the weekend hiking around, I recommend bring enough water for the journey.

Completed the entire trail back in Feb 2019 with a booked overnight at North Era campground. Hike is beautiful along the coast with many view points and beach access. Plenty opportunities for wildlife as well. A bit busy in summer but it's all about the experience and being in nature. The views before Ottford like figure 8 pool and coastline are stunning. Well worth every drop of sweat.

Simply stunning! Very technical and steep at the southern end. I ran South to North and it is probably best to do it the other way round as the first 10km take a lot out of your legs. Also had the unpleasant encounter with a string cutting right into my throat when I ran into it. Someone thought it would be fun to set up that trap for hikers/ runner and I was told this happens occasionally - so watch out! Even though probably my preferred trail run so far

Avoid weekends due large crowds social media freaks at weeding cake rock and figure 8 pools. Week days perfect serenity.

Did this back in 2016 north to south too - I didn't know you needed a permit (was day hike). Amazing, I wish I could be more specific, but wonderful coast, rainforest, etc. Varied landscape, I have very good (vague) memory of it! Also, the train makes it possible to do in a single day without a car without going back and forth. Also, I think you had to take a boat to reach the start (sorry, all very vague now)

Great walk, went bundeena to Otford, lots of places to refill water along the trail. Much longer than the stated 23kms, more like 30kms. At low tide you can walk around the era headland to save time but the views from above era headland are awesome! No water at era campground so fill up at garie before heading to camp, you could also swim at garie and then have a freshwater shower.

Great views of the coast and Good swimming. Can refill water at Garie surf club toilet and Wattamolla toilets. Signs say the water isn’t safe, but it’s just tank rain water. Good for spotting birds too. 30kms

Great track, very casual and easy with all the new boardwalk installed. Added on an extension around Jibbon Head to the north on the first day heading North to South. Was able to filter water from some of the larger creeks with a purifying system with no issues.

I did this early Jan 2019. Bundeena to Wattamollo (return). Side trip along the way was Shelley Beach, The Platform, Wedding Cake rock, Marley Beach and finally Wattamolla. Overall beautiful scenery through out. Weather at that time is nice sunny but cloudy.

Great views. The campsite at North Era isnt the best due to the lack of water.

Beautiful walk, started in Bundeena and made our way to Otford so there was no pressure to catch the last ferry back.

A nice walk. Went from Otford to Bundeena over two days. I clocked this walk closer to 34k so make allowances. As you travel through the boards indicating distance constantly change. from North Era you can walk around the rocks you don't have to go over the ridge if tides permit. That would have saved plenty of effort.

Highly recommend, I would personally start from Orford early morning and walk north, and aim for an afternoon ferry, the reason being ferry does not start till a fair while into the day, some of the best coast near sydney
