Pigeon House Mountain is a distinctive peak, it was named by Captain Cook due to its shape being like a birdhouse for pigeons as he sailed by in 1770. The walk, which passes through The area contains forest, heathland, ash eucalypts plus ancient sandstone rocks and boulders, is considered to be one of the best in the area. It is not a long walk but it is steep, and the last section can be difficult for the faint of heart as it involves a series of metal ladders to reach the summit. Once at the top it has amazing panoramic views out to sea and across the Budawang region. Take some food and have lunch while taking in the views. After rainfall, the ladders can be slippery plus the road to the parking lot is unsealed so may be muddy and difficult without a 4WD. So check the weather before heading out.

HikingGreat!

Amazing 360 view at the top, well worth the walk. Zig zag pathways at the beginning going up a gradual incline, followed by lots of steps, flat surface midway, before more steep steps and ladders at the end. Would highly recommend.

Very easy track to follow, although pretty difficult incline most of the way. Worth it once you get to the top as the views are amazing.

HikingGreat!Muddy

Easy to follow and well marked out trail. Starts with a gradual incline and increases as you get closer to the top. There are a lot of stairs to climb, but the view up the top is spectacular on a clear day. Muddy in some patches, so hiking boots are recommended.

Gradual incline from the car park, not long after there are moderate zigzagging tracks Until you hit some boulder scampering. Lots of steps almost all the way to the ladders. The bush right generation is awesome after the 2020 fires. Steep ladders to get you to the top of kitchen house. Was able to watch the sunrise, which was amazing… Awesome views.

Great walk with some amazing views. Some nice little stops just off the track to take a look at aswell. As the rest of the reviews say, lots of stairs and quite steep in places. Can be quite muddy after some rain, but the track is well maintained.

Absolutely enjoyed this trail, a bit hectic in the middle part, lots of stairs and steep ladders at the end but well worth it.

The trail is no longer 5.5km as they have made a side trail that Zig zag up the first Hill so it is now 7.2km long. great view and love the ladders at the end. hate to think how they got up there before them.

Trail looks great but still closed as of 23rd June for bush regeneration and dangerous trees. We made it all the way to the end in a Swift but would recommend a 4wd especially if raining.

This is a great walk but not for the faint hearted as the final climb is via metal vertical ladders but the view from the top out to sea and the Budawang is to due for. the tired jgs are well worth it. Take snacks and when you meet people walking down and you are still walking up they all tell you it not far to the top.

Great trail. This is the 1st trail my wife and I had completed. It was quite difficult for us 1st timers but extremely rewarding once you reach the summit. Surreal views.

A challenging walk with a beautiful view. Starting with a steep incline on a wide dirt track followed by a flat section which has vegetation similar to drawing room rocks. Further incline this time amongst rainforest vegetation and plenty of wooden steps. The final section involves steep metal stairs. The worst part of this hike was the freezing cold handrails on these stairs. Tip for next time is to take gloves.
