Great short hike to Mt Kosciuszko - Australia's highest peak. You can take the express chairlift from Thredbo in the summer. The last 800 meters can be quite difficult depending on the time of year - in the winter the wind chill factor and snow can make this hike much harder.

Enjoyed this very much

It’s an easy walk and is quite busy during school holidays. The raised grid track is easy to walk on and protects the vegetation from the hordes of people. All the same a beautiful walk showcasing the best of what Australia has to offer

Summer hike - Starting from the lodge gives a nice workout as there is good elevation gain in the first two miles.
Using the ski lift makes it a easier trip.

Took the chairlift up at the start of the hike because we had a pretty late start. From the top of the lift there is a metal grating trail that is suspended over the alpine meadow for almost the entire walk, you will not need trekking poles (or be able to even use them) Near the summit, the metal grating gives way to rocky ground covered by rubber. The summit gets quite windy and can be very chilly, be prepared for all weather conditions. This is the highest peak in Australia :)
