Bush track with some rock scrambling. The lookout is overgrown with shrubs & trees. if you walk a bit further North you will find a rock ledge with some views looking over Port Kembla and the suburbs surrounding the lake.

HikingGreat!

The hike itself was nice through the bush with a little bit of going up small rocks. And finishes with a great view. Plus the bonus view of Mt Keira if you follow the trail to the end.

HikingGreat!RockyScramble

Great variety of bushland, challenging in places but achievable. Has some rock scrambling, a ladder and chains to help along the way... just when you think you reach the top it surprises you with a little more! All round great walk. On the way up- you have to climb up the rocks at the “cave”... we didn’t then had to do a little bushbashing to get back on the track.

Nice track, not very long, not very hard, just for one afternoon. Some views obstructed by the trees.

Not a bad short hike. It starts quite steep but then not too bad. Well marked. My grown son thought it was boring, not much to see, I thought it was fine, got my heart rate up at the beginning anyways.

HikingMuddy

Great trail - very muddy and slippery in parts but we went after some heavy rains. Kids coped well but the full track was a bit long for them, ended up being a 3 hour walk. Beautiful pond at the bottom was a treat, lovely bird sounds and mossy rocks to enjoy along the way. Worked up a great appetite and headed to mt Kembla pub straight after

Nice and well formed track with some rock scrambling on the way. Steps and a ladder have been erected in the steep sections to make the walk more easier. The views south across Lake Illawarra were sensational even with cloud and misty rain about. Push to the most norther eastern aspect for a nice view north.

Beautiful little track with some great views of the Illawarra. A little bit of rock hopping and one ladder but still an easy walk. Make sure you stop at Mt. Kembla hotel for a great feed and a cold drink on the way back down the hill.

good workout - steady uphill climb in the first half, then a scramble over some rocks for a while, then a relatively flat finish to the top. Well worn trail, except in the rocky parts, but easy enough to find the trail regardless. Great views at the top!

Hiking

Definitely one of the best Illawarra walks. it takes approximately 45 minutes up and 30 minutes back. The walk follows the spur line of the hill and provides views of Kembla Grange and Wollongong the whole way along. The best part of the walk is the vegetation which constantly changes from rainforests to casuarina forest at the highest point. There is also a beautiful boulder section about three quarters of the way. Don't forget your camera.

The summit track is steep and hard in places. There is a ladder in one area and lots of stairs. Also did the ring track around the base which has a steep descent at the start but reasonably easy. Lots of bird life on both tracks and is shaded all the way. Enjoyable walk.
