Stunning walk to do on a sunny day because of all the swimming spots. Definitely now a favourite walk in NSW. Took us about 3-3.5 hours of walking, but actually more like 5+ because of two swimming stops and one long picnic session. There is no need to swim in the Mermaid Pools. It’s a sacred aboriginal site anyway and probably should be left alone! Plenty of other sublime options. I can’t believe this area is under so much threat from mining and development. We have to put as much pressure on as we can!!

HikingGreat!

Great walks with cross a river/creek, some of the trail in Rosie Pass very extreme but manageable there was rope and chain to hold on while descent and ascent. Level 3/4 for this walk.

The trail is a mix of grade 3/4 (moderate/hard) if doing the whole loop. Be prepared to cross the river a few times. Only lost in one section which involved the second river crossing as there were minimal markers. Took closer to 5 hours with a few short breaks to complete the whole loop. Not designed for young children as some steep descents and ascents out of the gorge.

There are some nice swimming holes and cascades along the Bargo River. The loop trail beyond Mermaid Pools isn't too difficult to follow given the many coloured ribbons tied to trees and rocks painted by wonderful people. Phone reception is spotty.

Trail is very clear to follow. The pools itself are beautiful although due to the amount of rain the waterfall was covering the rope/ ladder to climb back up if you were planning on jumping in

Beautiful area for a picnic and swim. although swimmimg needs to be extra pre-caution and enter at your own risk. Not easy to get back up as your only way out is a piece of rope and a good upper body strength. Other challenge in this area is to continue hiking and do the Tahmoor Gorge Canyon however you need some experience to do as there is less/no signage. Other pre-caution is this area has lots of snakes. I went there during Spring time (Sept.) and already Ive encountered a brown n red belly. Always watch where you going.

By far the BEST bush walk this year ! Outstanding nature ! Rocks, caves , pools and plants . Phone started to play up before I reached the mermaid pool , but managed to get these awesome pics . Few obstacles to climb over but mainly flat .Keen to go again for longer , maybe dip in the pool. Exciting from start to finish ! Lookout at pool so relaxing or climb down for the swim or jump the rocks . Take insect repellent and sanitizer , if planning a picnic. Plenty of natural leaves around for the rest

Amazing views, easier than I thought since you walk down into the gorge and out, two short steep sections. Highly recommend! Dog friendly!

Great hike, lots of waterfalls, opportunities to venture off towards the water plenty of times quite safely, great views, opportunities to swim too. Harder than I expected.

The canyon is truly beautiful, and there are so many passes in the canyon further down to explore
