Description
Waypoints (2)

This is one of the longer routes to get to the figure 8 and Burning Palms, with the benefit that it starts and end at a train station. From Otford you climb up and follow the trail through open woodlands on escarpment with coastal views, before descending to Figure 8 Pool then through temperate rainforest along Burning Palms beach, where there is a small collection of historic huts and a surf life-saving club (weekends only) at the north end, a great place for a surf or a swim. Then head up Burgh Ridge track which ascends fairly steeply to Garrawarra Farm Trail loop back to oxford along the ridge via Werrong lookout. On the way back before descending to the station you can stop off at Oxford Pantry for a hot pie or pastry and coffee.

Even wetter along the palms than expected, after recent rain. The enviro track that's being put down is a real benefit to the area and the hike. Saw a yellow-bellied (?) black snake, and a few wallabies & brush turkeys.

HikingGreat!

The views are incredible especially when you break out of the cabbage palm forest into grassland. Will recommend taking the right fork at the Werrong lookout when starting the hike from Otford end. The return via the Garawarra farm track is boring but welcome after a steep climb along Burgh ridge.

Good mix of trail, canopy and open. Amazing views, not particularly hard going. A few ascents but nothing major (certainly not hard grade). One half of the loop is pretty mono track though, not much to engage with. Would recommend taking the right fork to start the loop, not the left, which will break up the pathing a bit more and make the walk more balanced.

Went on a hot Sunday and made a pit stop at burning palms beach to cool off - it was pretty busy! The track becomes a little more challenging after the beach because of the steep elevation but after the elevation it’s a quick fire trail back to the beginning.

HikingGreat!

Great hike through temperate rainforest on the coast track and open woodlands on cliff track also with great ocean and coastal views. Installation of boardwalks in section has certainly made the walk easier than in the past Would grade as moderate

The trail is beautiful! Watch your step, because you’ll likely be distracted by the stunning coastline. I couldn’t complete the loop, as a section of the trail (Burge Ridge Track) is currently closed (7 Sept 2020).

HikingGreat!Rocky

Started at 10:30am . The beginning is lush coastal bush that scatters the sunlight beautifully , the figure 8 pools are a little underwhelming /overhyped , however the walk is stunning with grass fields and a raised eco walkway around 50 percent of the track took around 4 hours at a wandering pace

What a stunning track! Variety of terrain - sand, rocks, grass, a walking path. It might be a bit challenging with all the uphill and stairs, but sticks will def help. Traffic is mild, views are stunning!

Great trail. We started from Otford station which was an awakening for the legs! Beautiful walk along the coast and incredible through the burning palms and all the vines. Along the beach was beautiful and back up to the car park for figure 8 pools. We then took the loop back to Otford Station which was a rocky fire trail but very manageable. Highly recommend! 15km all up and 3hrs 30mins.
