Gerringong Falls via Budderoo Fire Trail is a 11.1 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Budderoo, New South Wales, Australia that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options.
Fire trail pretty much all the way, the last four hundred meters are bush bashing. The view at the end is awesome
Nice easy fire trail style walk at the beginning. Couple of creek crossings, very thick overgrown forest to walk through. Very wet in the rain. Beautiful view of falls.
Don’t do the loop. Good bird life on main fire trail. Black Cockatoo, rosella, wrens, honey eaters.
Most of the lonnng trail is a gated fire trail (dirt road), so if you have a mountain bike, bring it to speed up the journey! Near the falls, don't go in the way we went in (bushwacking), but rather follow the way we exited. Beautiful falls! Hope to explore the bottom of falls next time.
We haven’t done the loop trail as it was muddy, but returned back from waterfall.
Very easy down the fire trail to the creek, the bush on the other side of Gerringong creek was not really walkable (turned around and did an out and back). Like other reviews - highly recommend following the creek to the falls. Great view from the top, wind was blowing the waterfall around creating amazing rainbows. Worth it for the falls - but a lot of fire trail. The out and back was 18km.
We did this walk when all the other trails were closed because of the Coronavirus lockdown. Some warnings first. We didn't have All Trails when we did the walk. Turns out there are options on which way you go. There is poor signage and NO information about the length or time of the trail. On our way on we met several groups who had given up and had no info on how long the trail is - it is a long walk. Quiet a few Mountain Bikes passed us. On the way at roughly 5 km you will pass a fire trail on your right. Don't go down it. Push on until about 6.5 km and on your right will be Hersey Fire Trail. Follow it for about 1.5 km until you reach the stream. If you want to go to the Falls turn left at the stream and walk alongside it for a few hundred metres. (Don't cross the stream and follow the trail on the other side like we did). Turn left at the junction with the larger stream. After a short walk you are finally rewarded with the magnificent Gerringong Falls. Make sure you walk around to the left for about 200m and get a full view of the Falls. Then cross the stream and have a look at the stunning valley views. Have a rest, before the long walk back. We returned via the same fire trails, but there may be an alternative overgrown bush trail. For us 18kms largely on wide flat fire trails. Take food and plenty of water.
Route to the top of Gerringong Falls. track starts with 2.7km of easy going fire trails. Take a right turn at a place no ribbon for 3km of tough walking. The track is over grown with prickly brush.
