The walking trail crosses a grassy plain before entering the bush and ascending to Eliza Saddle, where there is a viewing platform. The trail to the summit is steep and rocky. The summit, an amazing granite formation, offers spectacular views over the ACT. Some scrambling/climbing is required to get to the very top - look for a high & narrow cleft between two huge boulders.

Great views of Canberra to reward those who hike to the top. First part is easy and relatively flat, does get a bit more tricky towards the summit. So take your time and be careful clambering up the granite up the top. Saw an elderly man slip and hurt himself quite badly. Probably my second favourite hike after Booroomba Rocks. Start early to avoid the crowds.

Easy to follow trail that starts at the visitors centre. Signs along the way are interesting. Spectacular views at the top! We kept short cutting down the mountain and ended up following the wrong path, however I actually really enjoyed this loop in the end.

Such a lovely trail! Went up around 10am on a public holiday, it was a cool 8degrees and perfect weather. We went up with the kids (5, and 7) and they made it up but we’re exhausted at the top! Was a 3 hour hike with a short stop at the top. Thankfully we’d packed a picnic and sat on the incredible boulders at the end of the trail. It was such a busy trail!!! So many people out and about but given it has only just opened after the fires and COVID19 lockdown it was understandable. It didn’t impact on the walk but would recommend going midweek if you prefer a quieter hike.

Awesome short-steep hike. I took the long way up past Tid RFS shed and then back down to Dalsetta Car Park, easy climb to saddle with Mt Eliza, then progressively steeper you to Gibraltar Rocks. Make sure to turn left up the track when you reach the fire trail at the top. It was a bit crowded when I did it, and tricky to pass people on the narrow track. Once you get to the rocks at the top the views are fantastic down to Birrigai and beyond. Lots of scrambling around on rocks to play for kids, just be careful, it’s a long way down. Looking forward to bringing my kids up here.

Loved this hike which was easy to find by leaving the car park and crossing the road at the pedestrian crossing. The track was well maintained, varied, and uphill all the way but not too steep. After the rains everything was green and there were no bugs/flies in mid May. At the top there is some scrambling to see the spectacular views over the tracking station, towards Canberra and to the south towards burnt out Namadgi. To make the most of these views go to the very end of the trail and between two large granite tors. A great little lunch spot! Return back down the track or via the fire trial. We walked a little of the fire trail which was extremely loose gravel before backtracking to the trial. Try to hike here mid week if you like to enjoy the quiet.

Walked up just after all the rain. Track was in good shape and the views as impressive as always. This is a good trail for all levels. Beginners have lots of benches to rest at along the way. The information and signage is great. So much wildlife too. About as close as you will get to a wild Eastern Grey

Cool and windy day, so it was a bit easier. Not a lot of shade so it could be tougher on hotter, less windy days. View from the top is fantastic! 2 hrs 15 min round trip at a relatively brisk pace, including a 20 min soaking in of the panorama. Came back down via the fire trail, which was pretty quick, but steep with slippery gravel. Less animals than other trails but still the occasional group of roos on the first third of the climb. Most prevalent animals were the flies that would just not leave me alone.

Love this trail and the fact you can do a loop (up via walking trail and back using the fire trail). Panoramic views over the ACT and towards Canberra & Black Mountain from the top. Amazing granite forrmations. https://hikingtheworld.blog/2018/10/19/gibraltar-peak-tidbinbilla/

I accidentally took the wrong path and ended up walking up the 4wd track, which was super easy to do & was not an easy climb! , but the walking track which I came back down was lovely! The views are amazing!!
