The Loma del Pliengue Tumbado is a chain of three round rocky summits at 1340m, 1420m and 1550m. In Spanish "Loma" could translate as "Hill". Pliegue Tumbado being the name of this chain of hills. On its Northern flank runs Rio Fitz Roy and its Southern one there is Rio Tunel. Carrying on further West, you would reach the impressive Cerro Solo, but that is alpine climbing, and no longer hiking. Loma del Pliegue Tumbado does not have anything spectacular and is far from being as marvelous as its neighbors, among others Cerro Torre and Cerro Fitz Roy. However it provides you with the best view on these mountains. It also gives a chance to see them from the South / South-East side, as the usual hike will take you to see from their East side. Hikers usually go to Laguna Torre or Laguna de los Tres to enjoy the view. This view point is even better!

Delightful trail easy to start gradual for the most of it. A few steep sections at the end and an absolutely stunning view most of the way that got better at the top. Busy but not crowded and better on a sunny day.

Great hike with good perspective of Fitz Roy, et al at the top. Unfortunately for us, there were a few clouds covering Fitz Roy but the 360 degree views all around certainly made it worth the hike, anyway. I also had some serious wind to fight on the final push to the summit. A few days before, we were in Torres del Paine park with a wind advisory of 70 KPH. The wind at the top of this hill was every bit that strong and gusting higher. At the windiest point just before the summit, I was on all fours a couple times, crabbing my way up. The vast majority of this hike I would rate as easy-moderate, and only the final push is hard. If, like my wife, you choose not to summit the hill, you will still have excellent views from the lookout (the tip of the triangle in the map). We hiked at a leisurely pace. My inexact app showed 11.57 miles and 6:33 of hiking time. A great hike - highly recommended!

I hiked only to the Mirador near the end. The view from there was excellent, looking down the lake we had hiked to a couple days earlier. A great view of Cerro Fitz Roy from another angle then we had seen before.

This hike has spectacular views! Many views of Fitz Roy along the way. The views at the view point before the final ascent are gorgeous. The final ascent to the top is steep with an 800 foot vertical rise. However, it's much easier than the steep stretch at Lake of the Threes, and at the top you get fantastic 360 views that include Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, and Tower Lake. It was not very windy so we were very lucky. This would not be a good hike with high winds or if it was too cloudy. While this hike has a greater vertical rise than Lake of the Threes, it's an easier hike. It was also a very pleasant hike since there were very few people. (Everyone was probably hiking Lake of the Threes.) In summary, a great hike that should not be missed.

I’d recommend this trail to anyone looking for an alternative to the highly trafficked trails in town. Provides 360 views inc Fitzroy and Cerro Torre (providing it isn’t cloudy). Lovely hike with gradual incline until last 1km which is a good challenge up to the summit.

This was a steady rise for 3000 feet (2000+ meters). Great views, only a few muddy spots, a few cow patties, not much rock scramble. We stoped at the view of the lake. The trail continues up 600 more feet in elevation, but the wind and rain were too much. We had 50-60 mph gusts.

Hell of a long day and the final ascent is brutal but the 360 view at the top is unparalleled in El Chalten. Honestly if you only had one day I would recommend this over Laguna Torre or Laguna de Los Tres. On a clear day you can see pretty much everything in the entire area. The beginning and ending thirds are almost entirely exposed so bring sunscreen. The middle is wooded which is a nice break. Other than the final ascent the uphill is fairly consistent and too bad. The top can be extremely windy so bring a coat if you’ll be spending some time up there. You’ll probably have a crowd any time during the high season like all trails in this area.

Challenging but very rewarding hike. First 7/8km are through very nice forests and meadows before a tough final climb on loose rock but definitely worth it. Great 360views of the entire area.

The absolute best hike in chalten. It was strenuous uphill the entire way out but absolutely worth it. Takes about 7 hours round trip but gives you the best views I have ever seen.

I would recommend this trail to all the hikers. I recommend to do it after doing Laguna de los Tres and Laguna Torre trails. The views at the viewpoint 200 m below the summit and at the top of the peak are amazing. If you have enough energy try to go to the top, there are a stunning 360 degree view. Definitely this trail is a must if you go to El Chaltén.

Possibly the best trail in the park - a little bit easier than Lago de los Tres (even though the elevation gain is greater, it is a more consistent gradual rise) with a fantastic 360 degree view at the very top. I think Lago de los Tres and this trek are must do - Laguna Torre can be skipped. If you can only do one, do Lago de los Tres. Stream was barely running so you may want to bring enough water for the entire trek.

Do not miss this!!! This is by far the best view in the area. It literally took our breath away - we just didn’t have enough breath to gasp as long as the view overwhelmed us! Also the hike itself was extremely beautiful for the whole way. However, we got some really powerful wind, especially in the exposed final leg of the trail. The wind was strong enough to hold me up when I leaned into it and I’m 150 pounds! It was a battle to reach the top through the wind, but the wind was warm and it felt more like an adventure than a problem. I would do the hike again in a heartbeat!!

Amazing hike. Ascent all the way up; especially challenging at the end. High winds and rain made the steep (45-50 degree climb for a while) ascent through rocks and peaking after a sheet of snow (which is doable by the way!). The views are well worth it and the way down is easy and even runnable at parts—just watch out for tree roots on the path.

By far the most stunning of views in all of El Chalten that we were on! Highly recommend for trail running or hiking. Spectacular! Less people than other nearby trails.
