Length: 5.6 mi • Est. 3 h 13 m
A good leg stretching hike with a waterfall and great chances to see wildlife. Makes a good day hike after arriving in the area before going to the serious game parks, or gives you a nice one day warm-up before tackling Kilimanjaro or Meru on longer multi-day hikes. You will need to register at the entrance and take a ranger with you for a 20-40 dollar fee (which seems to vary on the day) but the price is more than worth it. On a clear day, there are views to Kilimanjaro from the top altitude. The trails in this area are great for extending the trip and making it longer or even camping for a night.Show more

Length: 6.5 mi • Est. 5 h 36 m
Known as the "Mountain of God," Ol Doinyo Lengai is a beautiful stratovolcano located on the Rift Valley. Ol Doinyo Lengai is the one of the only known volcano in that may sometimes erupt natrocarbonatite lava, a lava that contains almost no silicon. Note that Natrocarbonatite lava is also much cooler than other lavas. In order to reach this volcano, you will need two days from the airport. This means that this volcano is rarely visited. Make sure to check the weather before hiking the volcano as this ascent is quite demanding, steep, and unstable.Show more
