A pretty loop that can be done Zimchurud-Begar or Begar-Zimchurud. Starting from Zimchurud, follow the main road until you get to a sizeable bridge going over the river. Go down and start following the river up. There's a little bit of scrambling and hopping back and forth across the river before you get to a clear trail that goes up and curves along the hills high above the river for a couple miles. You'll turn right off this trail and go straight up a hill around mile 4, and eventually reach a ridge with beautiful views. Then you'll start heading downhill towards Begar, crossing several streams by a broad path and passing by an old Soviet quarry, very cool to see. Head down through the village and you can catch a ride back to Dushanbe. If you reverse the loop the trail from Begar is wide and easy to find, but a little steeper than the Zimchurud route. Both directions are a pleasant hike.Show more
