#1 - Taipingshan National Forest Recreation Area
Yilan, TaiwanTaipingshan National Forest features hot springs, mountain lakes, dense forests, and is the largest forest recreational area in Taiwan. Tapingshan, also known as "Peace Mountain," contains historic sites and the Taiwan Beech, a national treasure. This forest area was first used as a logging business for the Japanese in 1915, then it was established as a forest recreation area in 1983. Make sure to take a stroll along the Zhen'an Temple and check out the lush forests and giant trees living behind it. Some other popular attractions are: the Cueifong Lake, which is home to the Taiwan Beech and Jioujhihze Hot Spring, a carbon dioxide hot spring.
