Guanwu National Forest Recreation Area features Taiwan's largest Wusheh Cherry which blooms in the Spring and the "Holy Ridgeline," of Hsuehshan. Visitors can hike to the top of the ridge line for splendid views of the park! Guanwu also has other names, it is known as mist gazing and Mogiri, a higher mountain (in Atayal language). Because of its location, this forest is surrounded by clouds hence the name "mist gazing." Like other national forest areas, this park was used for logging in the 1940s. Nowadays, visitors can see the logging remnants and manmade forests. Check out the Kuaishan Giant Trees Trail, visitors will be able to see five stout Taiwan Red Cypress trees that has lived here since the past. Guanwu is home to a variety of flora and fauna, however one stands out above the rest. Keep an eye out for Impatiens devolii Huang, a one of a kind flower and a national treasure of Taiwan. Other unique species that can be found here are the: Guanwu Formosan Salamander and the Broad-tailed Swallowtail Butterfly, both which are Taiwan's national treasures. Guanwu has much to offer for the whole family!Show more
