Hiking

One of the most beautiful hikes I've done in the area. We did it on the way down, however, which is not ideal on the knees. Would recommend doing it on the way up

Very nice easy hike with a beautiful view. Ideal if you arrive early afternoon in Wengen and you don't have time to start a longer one.

Hiking

Hiking

Great trail! It’s pretty much straight uphill but at a very manageable slope. I was able to get to the top in about 1 hour and 20 minutes at a moderate pace. There’s alternate routes down so don’t be afraid to go a different direction. There are beautiful lookout points along the trail (3 or so).

Hiking

Cut the loop short because of steep and rocky downhill parts, which were a bit hard for someone hiking 3 months into a torn ACL. But all in all: amazing hike and worth the effort. Views are spectacular!

Hiking

My boyfriend and I hiked up from Wengen and down to Grindelwald. This was one of the first hikes I’ve ever done. The views were incredible, the way down to Grindelwald was brutal on our calves but definitely worth it.

This was the coolest trail I’ve ever hiked (about a year ago). I would say that it’s a bit harder than moderate though. Excellent views throughout. Big climb at the beginning but don’t worry it gets a bit easier.

This trail is probably the hardest physical activity I have done. It is stunningly beautiful- and incredibly hard. The first 5 hours are quite lovely and then the down climbing just puts people in the hurt locker. There are a few places that it is truly dangerous and many places where if you miss step you could die - at minimum break many bones. I highly recommend poles although there were a number or younger people on the trail without them. I have a lot of respect for anyone who does it. It just goes on and on and on and feels never flat. Up and down. But it was absolutely amazing. Best hike I have every done.

Lots of the trail is under cover and you can't see any outlook. When it does clear, the views are spectacular. Steep downhill pathway and gravelly.

Backpacking

We were on the ViaAlpina trek from Meiringen to Kandersteg and it was our 3rd and biggest day from Lauterbrunnen to Griesalp. We started at 7.30am from the Schützenbach Backpackers & Camping site and made our way towards Mürren. The first half of the way there is okay (though quite steep on the first couple of km) and mostly in the forest that can get quite humid. Once you have reached the small Winteregg station, you have climbed the first 800m and the road is flat until Mürren. We reached Mürren at around 10.30am. Even though it was still a long way ahead, and another 400m up, we decided to have lunch at the Rotstockhütte that we reached at 1pm. At 2, we were back on our feet and got ready for the remaining 600m to the Sefinenfurgge pass at 2612m. We were at the top at 3.30pm. After the pass, you will go downhill in a scree slope for a while then join a mountain trail and finish on a gravelled pathway. You will cross a few berghaus and farms until you reach the first trees of the forest. If you continue, you will end up in a very nice forest glade which is the best spot for bivouac. You will find a nice firepit with a grill and some wood at your disposal, right next to the river. Don't forget to leave a few francs for the wood and enjoy your rest!

Walking

Incredible views the entire walk overlooking the valley own below and up at the eiger. We did the walk late in the afternoon and only saw one other group of walkers.

HikingGreat!
