Amazing trail, dog friendly and easy to do. It took us 30 minutes less than what is predicted. The only downside of the trail is that there are no rubbish bins along the way. Several benches to stop and pic-nic tables but not even 1 bin.

Schöner Trail, aber leider erst gegen Ende Aussicht. Oben auf dem Berg hat es eine Ruine. Unten im Castello kann man Kafi und Bier haben.

WalkingGreat!

It is an easy hike, you can do it with kids and family. You walk through the city and surrounding neighborhoods with pavement roads. You can also make it the way down, just take the bus 4 on the train station to Castello Sasso Corbaro (the castle at the top) and hike down following the road. There are signs all over the hike. The entrance to the castles are free except for the one in the middle (Montebello) which costs 10.00 CHF

Great trail, lots of diverse views. Just follow the signs. A bit too mich gravel in the beginning. Overall, it only took 3h10‘ for us

Herrliche Wanderung im Schatten der Bäume. Wechselder Baumbestand und immer wieder Sicht auf die Magadino-Ebene.

Beautiful hike. We started at the castles and then further up the hill and then back down. The castles are worth the stop inside. Water, bathrooms in both and a cute cafe in the top one. We came across another set of ruins along the way and walked through a forest. It is mostly sunny but there is quite a bit of shade along the way.

Short, fun hike from Carona; treat yourself to (pricy) food and drink at the top, and enjoy the magnificent view from the top of the old church!

Very rocky trail, so if your a human mountain goat all good...otherwise really nice, great views, shady and great for dogs on a hot day.

Great afternoon! We took a bunch of pictures on the unique bridge and spent time on the huge rocks in the river.

Didn’t do the point to point that the trail is stated as, but went to the summit, dropped down and linked up some trails back to the trail head. Good hiking trail, for running and power hiking it has some technical sections I don’t suggest pushing hard on unless you have experience doing so. I hit the summit in 38min and that was near max effort. Great views and experience being at the top.

Completed September 24th, 2019. Walked 3.4 miles from hotel in Lugano to gandria to reach the trail head. Prior to starting we walked down into the charming and seemingly deserted village of gandria and found a cafe open for a pre-hike cappuccino. Awesome view of the lake in the cafe. Hike itself was mostly well marked, and consistently steep, as advertised. The village of Bre was adorable. We went right at the fork on the way up and it was shorter and steeper as expected. Came down the other way and was more gentle on the old knees. Views at the summit were great! It was our first hike in the region and the view helped orient ourselves with the landscape. After we made it back down to bre we cheated and jumped on the funicular and rode it back down to Lugano. It was the first means of transportation in which we made use of our newly acquired Swiss travel pass... great way to break in the pass and save the knees. My only grip about the hike was the significant portion of rocky path. The rocks are mostly set, and it’s evident a lot of love has been put in to build and maintain the trail, but it’s a killer on old knees coming down. Would definitely do it again.

Well, yeah it’s beautiful, but it’s a constant uphill for the first mile and a half: 2600 feet elevation change, to be exact. As in no flat walk at all. Then, when you get to the top, the trail goes back downhill again. Thats when we said enough. Going back down was very painful on the knees. We could have taken the cable car back down, but where’s the fun in that! So why do I give it 5 stars? Well it’s, you know, the SWISS ALPS! It’s beautiful!

Thoroughly enjoyed this river walk. Very Lord of The Rings. Easy stroll with art works along the way.

Really nice and challenging hike. The views are well worth it. It’s very hard to get to the start of the trail by bus so expect few extra miles if you start from Gambria.

Day #3 on Headwaters Trek. Started trek at Gotthard Pass. Headed up to Lake Lucendro and the Head of the Reuss. Continued on alpine road then down steep trail to Ronco which is on the Ticino River. A nice time was had by all!
