I loved this trail. A lot of the mountain trails go along steep drop offs. This one didn't, The closest that I felt to uncomfortable was the last bit from the restaurant to the to of Esel. The wonderful views along the way made for a fantastic day. I can get used to having a cold beer waiting at a restaurant at the to of the journey. Will do it again the next chance that I have!

Spectacular trail, but we thought it was tougher than “moderate.” 4 stars only because of the steeper sections that were gravel/small rocks (pretty slippery and slow going for the last mile prior to the top) and it was still a buggy in late September. Views are amazing from the start (lake, valley, huge peaks in the distance, interesting rock formations) and loved the cows on the trail (a bit scary but fine to just go past them). We hiked up from the base train station, took ~3 hours up for two moderately experienced hikers, hung out at the top, then hiked 2 miles down to a tram station to ride the rest of the way to save our legs ($25 each).

Absolutely amazing hike. The views at the top are truly magical. A sea of clouds with the alps on the other side.

Wonderful! The sound of the cow bells, the breeze, the flowers, the beer on top of the mountain! Dreamy! Do it!

Hiked just from Trubsee to Engelbeeg going from top to bottom without going around the lake which totaled about 4.2 miles. Views were amazing. Did take about 3 hrs but included plenty of stops to take photos and pet grazing cows along the way. Perfect weather in July. Stopped halfway for lunch in Untertrubsee. Trails well marked and there is signage posted with transit times. Trail is a mix of gravel and rocky. Def make a visit if you have time.

This was incredibly beautiful!! It was certainly a challenge and took a long time so bring water and food. Also be prepared for interrupting grazing cows. The way down is a little tough in some areas because of the loose rocks so watch your foot or you’ll find yourself sitting and sliding!

My family and I enjoyed this trail very much! The east side of the trail was by the road so it wasn’t as peaceful but the view was still pretty cool! We saw lots of people fishing and biking and enjoying the lake. There was around 10 waterfalls and one pretty big one that you could get pretty close to and it would spray you too. The trail doesn’t have that waterfall on it but along the trail, there’s a little sign that points to the path up to the waterfall. Our hike was 6.2 miles but we went of the trail a couple of times. The trail was also extremely clean! The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because of the traffic of the cars driving past.

The trail is uphill the entire way, it’s got beautiful views though. We hiked up to the top and took the cogwheel train back down. I’d recommend this for experienced hikers.
