Hiking

Cut the loop short because of steep and rocky downhill parts, which were a bit hard for someone hiking 3 months into a torn ACL. But all in all: amazing hike and worth the effort. Views are spectacular!

This was the coolest trail I’ve ever hiked (about a year ago). I would say that it’s a bit harder than moderate though. Excellent views throughout. Big climb at the beginning but don’t worry it gets a bit easier.

Backpacking

We were on the ViaAlpina trek from Meiringen to Kandersteg, and this was our last leg of the journey. From the bivouac we left at 7am towards the Hohtürli pass 2778m high. You should count between 3h30 and 4h to reach the pass. The slope gradient is fairly constant, and finishes in a scree and with the famous 570 big wooden steps that you will remember for a while! The view at the top is amazing from all sides. We were at the top at 10.45am and started our long descent towards the Oschinensee at 11. We decided to go down as much as possible before stoping for lunch. We had lunch behind a small cabin overlooking the Oschinensee, you will find the spot if you go left after the first few berghaus that you come across. To continue, we chose the upper trails overhanging the lake as it is more scenic. It keeps going up and down for 1 or 2km, and then starts to go down towards the main road. Once you have reached the main pathway where you will see tourists arriving from the gondolas, you are almost there! Another hour mostly spent in the forst, and you will see Kandersteg from close! We reached Kandersteg train station at 2.45pm, and that was the end of our 4-day hike from Meiringen to Kandersteg.

Très jolie balade à travers les petits villages et la forêt surplombant le lac ! La balade nous a pris moins de 2h

Beautiful hike from the way up to the way down. Perfect to experience all terrain and scenery. Every part of the hike has stunning views. The walk down to Hergiswill starts very rocky but ends through the forest, coming out by some gorgeous farms. Definitely doing this one again!

Hiking

The hike begins and ends at the Schilthornbahn station in Mürren, which we reached by gondel from Lauterbrunnen to Grütschalp followed by the train to Mürren (costs 22.40 SF pp). After a few metres on the asphalt road, the natural path to Spilboden begins. It's an easy track with nice mountain views. Step by step direction: Allmendhubel – Blumental – Schiltalp – Spielbodenalp – Mürren

One of the best views I’ve ever seen. Great variation in the walk, very well marked trail and all in all just stunning. A must do when nearby. Just make sure that the Schynge Platte train is riding ;-)

This trail was amazing from start to finish... Or almost! The first quarter of the climb puts you in good condition. Once in Gimmelwald, you will still encounter steep slopes until the end of the forest. Then you will probably enjoy (and you should) the flatness of the slope in the small upper valley, until you start the final climb to the lake. This one is particularly hard as you already have a lot of positive climb in the legs... We did the whole climb in four hours sharp. Nothing to mention about the descent, it's mostly on sky slopes and therefore a bit boring. Enjoy your hike!

Incredible hike, beautiful landscapes, featuring the new bridge to cross on the other side in the middle of the mountains, not recommended for people who fear heights though but other than that it’s perfect!

Very beautiful trail, pretty easy to do as no large elevations are there to take. Waterfalls were amazing to see. And best of all, not busy with a lot of people.
