I hiked this trail in early September. It was absolutely beautiful. Something to see every step of the way. Breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps. Take your time and enjoy.

Stunning views all the way from the parking lot at 1800m to the peak 3610m. Getting to the peak was very rewarding. Peak is surrounded by several taller peaks, most beautiful of them is Weisshorn.

Für einen gemütlichen Spaziergang ideal.

Great hike with my family right to the base of the Matterhorn, at 10,000’. Beautiful glacial lakes, streams, and surreal landscape with no vegetation. Fantastic view of the Alps and distant peaks. Trail well marked. We were lucky to have gorgeous weather and clear skies. Time permitting, I suggest you continue all the way down to Zmutt and then onto Zermatt. An 11 out of ten!

Trummelbach is a fantastic touring attraction. Wasn't a distinct hike but there is alot of walking and stair climbing involved. Spectacular sight to see and certainly worth visiting.

Hiked from the top platform about 2 miles out and back on the ridge. Was a beautiful hike and was very easy once on the ridge.

Gear trail, rain and fog blocked the views. Recommend going a clear day for pics

Nice hike through the forest with stunning views of mountains, waterfalls, and wild flowers. We took the tram from Lauterbrunnen up to Grütschlap, then walked the ridge all the way to Mürren, on to Grimmelwald, then took the gondola down to the Lauterbrunnen valley.

Easy, flat walk and nice falls viewing area.

One of the most beautiful scenery of the area. Very busy on its first part. Better go early morning and around September or May June. Lots of animals visible. It is a fragile area. Stay on tracks and leave no trace :-)

hiked from the bottom tram station to the overlook platform. didn’t go all the way across. the hike up to the platform was challenging. multiple trail extensions to add to a hike if you want. the hike goes through a cow pasture and has some amazing views on the way up. took 2 hrs up with some extra parts, 1 hr down. totally worth the hike to known at the top you earned the view!

The hike up was nice. decent elevation gain. there is an asphalt road you can take to the top but it is very steep. there is a trail next to it that makes it easier. made it up in 45 minutes and down in 30. the top was a beautiful lake but was commercial with a restaurant and tram that drives people up. worth the stop to hike up.

this hike was amazing!! went the beginning of october and had perfect weather. i suggest going early so you are alone on the trail - so peaceful. i thoroughly enjoyed hiking bottom up. we took the train to alpigen and then hiked up to the Kleine Scheidegg station. this was cheaper and 30 mins more walking than catching the train at eigergletscher. overall took 2.5-3 hrs hiking with a 15 minute lunch break.

Super schöne Wanderung. Ich bin beim Parking gestartet bis zum Berggasthaus Äscher und dann weiter zum Seeslpsee und runter zum Parkplatz zurück. Great and beautiful hiking trail. I started from the parking area up to Berggasthaus Äscher after that to the Seealpsee and back to the parking area.

Go Clockwise. At the start there are some parking lots with the dog club (until 5pm). The quellenweg is great and they explain how the water is captured and distributed between Dietikon and Baden. The Aegelsee is always nice and calm. Then there are some long easy parts unit you turn. The track after turning is just awsome. There are many ways to shorten the trip. E.g to pass trough Heitersberg. The you must see the tower :-).

A gentle walk that allowed for great times with friends and my young grand-daughter. Enjoyed a Koffe-Lutz at one of the restaurants.

Really challenging incline the whole way up and not worth it for the views that you can see via other hikes.

I enjoyed this trail with my parents and grand daughter recently. The trail is easy enough for small children to walk while being able to feel that they are exploring a deep forest. The lake is small, crystal clear and beautiful. The water is so clear that you can see the fish!

Only did the Ascent, very tough, but doable for those who are already frightened by the comments already made for this trail; you could always slow down a bit! Did the trail in 4 hours.

It’s was ideal for a late afternoon hike, easy and flexible enough in case you need to do a shortcut if it gets dark.

How to get there from Interlaken (~1 hour): Take a train to Lauterbrunnen from either Interlaken Ost (if you are staying northern side of Interlaken) or Wilderswil (if you are staying in the southern side of Interlaken). From Lauterbrunnen buy a ticket to Murren. To get to Murren you take a cable car up to Grütschalp and then a train to Murren. The trail start is about a 5 minute walk from the Murren train station. Impressions of the hike: The hike was challenging and absolutely stunning. I wanted to stop every 5 minutes and take a photo. Also encountered some cows along the way! The first 4 miles of the hike are a steady ascent up and a pretty good workout as it steep in some portions. The last 0.5 miles up to Schilthorn are where it starts to get interesting. The last half mile is a scramble up rocks, snow and ice so I would highly recommend bringing good hiking boots/trail runners or trekking poles. I did not have trekking poles, but did have to catch myself a few times from slipping due to ice. The views both up and down were incredible. As a side note, if you only want to hike up to Schilthorn, you can buy a ticket down. This ticket will get you all the way to Lauterbrunnen and will cost about 62 CHF. tl;dr Do this hike if you are physically fit. Take your time and enjoy the beautiful sights.

An absolutely amazing hike, up with the best I have ever completed. Ive been to Switzerland 5 times so I am fairly accustomed to the landscape, but this hike took my breath away yet again! Countless waterfalls (50+), Oberhornsee lake, a herd of Ibex, snow storm’s and (distant) avalanches... what else could you want!! We completed this hike twice, 4 days apart, due to the first hike being completed in clouds with close to 20-50m visibility in below freezing conditions, and knowing what switzerland is, I knew we were walking past some jaw-dropping views, plus the reason we did this hike was because I wanted to hike to the glacier/point where the Lauterbrunnen River starts, and having poor conditions meant we were unable to find the answer. A few days later we had a sunny clear day and completed the hike again which showed us the beauty that was originally being hidden from us. We had no regrets about doing the same hike again as this time our eyes were glued to the scenery, and we even went for a swim (twice) at Oberhornsee and enjoyed the view for hours! Hike 1 - Loop (20km & 1300m) : Stechelberg-Trachsellauenen-Obersteinberg-Oberhornsee-Schmadribachfall-Schmadrihütte-Stechelberg Hike 2 - Return w/miniloop (24km & 1200m) : Gimmelwald-Obersteinberg-Oberhornsee-Schmadribachfall-Oberhorn-Obersteinberg-Gimmelwald Difficulty : Hard, both are very steep at times, tough and gruelling but well worth the result and views at the end. Just prepare your knees for the way down :) I would recommend doing the Hike 1 hopefully on a clear sunny day so you can swim at Oberhornsee, but if its a cloudy day and its your only chance, still do it, you will not regret it!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
