Asunden trail runs along lake Asunden with the start and end point at Lassalyckan's outdoor recreational area. The trail has orange route markers. The hike takes you through the diverse agricultural and forest landscapes surrounding the lake.
The trail passes two nature reserves: Korpeboberg, just south of Marbäck on Åsunden's eastern side and Kråkebo, which is located on the north-western side of Asunden. Both reserves boast idyllic, deciduous forested areas.
Some stretches on the western side of the lake are decently hilly. The trail takes you through some very steep passes. There are numerous impressive vantage points and you are afforded a stunning view across the lake and of the surrounding landscape.
There are some considerably steep sections on the west side of the lake. The trail runs mainly along forest paths and roads with paved roads in some sections.
Services
Along the trail there are many designated picnic and rest areas, with benches and tables, and lots of accommodation alternatives. Ulricehamn has several to choose from, the nearest to the trail being Hotel Lassalyckan. In the centre of Ulricehamn, about 2 km from the trail, there’s more accommodation on offer, as well as shops, restaurants and other services. On the southern stretch of the walk you’ll pass the village of Vegby, where there’s a camping site, café and shops. Other accommodation in the area includes Ekelidens B&B, around 2.5 km from the trail, and Asundsholm Golf & Country Club, about 1 km away, which has a restaurant that uses locally sourced, top quality ingredients.
