Length: 15.3 mi • Est. 8 h 8 m
This route is part of a multi-week walk on the Camino de Santiago, known as the Camino del Norte, starting in Irún and ending at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. Through this route, pilgrims can enjoy the wonderful coast of northern Spain, from the Basque Country, through Cantabria and Asturias, reaching Santiago de Compostela, the temple of pilgrimage in Europe. Legend has it that the remains of the Holy Apostle Santiago are buried there. Every spring and summer, many people follow their routes as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth. It is also popular with hiking and biking enthusiasts and organized tour groups. Zarautz is a tourist town famous for its 3 km long beach, the longest in the entire province. As points of interest, you can find the Palace of Narros, the Luzea Tower and the Parish Church of Santa María la Real. Deba, located in the westernmost part of the Guipuzcoan coast, is also famous for its beauty and the tourism that visits it every year.
