Show more

Montserrat could be considered the most famous hike in Catalonia. The trailhead is tricky to find. There might not be parking at the trailhead, most visitors take the train or bus to the area and then walk to the trailhead. Visitors with cars could probably park in town and walk to the trailhead. This trail could be made into a loop by using GR-96. It is slightly more steep, and goes directly up to the Montserrat summit, whereas GR-5 curves around the mountain a bit before reaching the summit.Show more

The way down is on GR-96, which is slightly steeper, and goes more directly down the mountain. GR-5 is more of a curve around the mountain as it gains altitude. This loop could also be done counter-clockwise, starting on GR-96.Show more

Show more
