The Carros de Foc route is an exciting adventure for hikers who love the high mountains. Walk around the 9 mountain huts within the Aigües Tortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. It is recommended to spend about 5 to 7 days to do the complete route and it can be done in the direction you choose starting from any of the mountain huts. In this case, the route begins at Refugi d'Amitges and ends at Colmèrs. Note: the use of the AllTrails map is essential to a safe hike on the Carros de Foc route as it is easy to get lost.Show more

The Sant Maurici Lake is located in the Aigüestores and San Mauricio Lake National Park, this being the only national park in all of Catalonia and the second in the Pyrenees (the first is Ordesa and Monte Perdido). The route through the Lake is long, since the lake itself has a length of more than one kilometer and a width of 200 meters. This is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful and spectacular hikes within the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. Its starting point is the immense and amazing Estany de Sant Maurici and it continues to climb slightly until it reaches the Refugi d'Amitges. The views and scenery from this place are simply amazing. There is the possibility of spending the night in the Refugio d'Amitges, with capacity for 74 hikers, Wi-Fi connection, telephone, cafeteria with food service and connection with the taxi service of the Aigüestortes National Park. Pets are not accepted. Without any special difficulty, you continue until you reach the Tuc de Ratera, named after the river that accompanies the path for almost the entire route. It is worth stopping at its viewpoint to contemplate this beauty of nature. The descent is still equally beautiful, passing through the Cirque de Colomers, where you can enjoy the views of Lac Obago until you return to the starting point of the route.Show more
