This route is part of a multi week long walk, along the Camino del Norte, also known as the Northern Way. The Camino del Norte is a pilgrimage route starting in Irun and finishing at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. It can be done at a variety of paces and starting points. Legend has it that the remains of the Saint Apostle Santiago are buried there. The San Juan de Gaztelugatxe route is a must if you come to visit the Bizkaian coast for its impressive stairs, the views, the feeling of being in a movie and much more! In fact, this gorgeous route came out in the seventh season of Game of Thrones. After making the walk to church, ring the bell three times and make a wish. Tradition says that your wishes will come true and you will be free from evil spirits. It is necessary to get free entry due to the large influx of hikers !!! https://web.bizkaia.eus/es/gaztelugatxeShow more

This trail will take you along dramatic coastal cliffs with wonderful views of the Basque country. In time, you will become the mountains. Look out for the yellow arrows that help you stay on the right track. You will pass through vineyards and farmland, before entering the forest. The forest is serene and peaceful, but it ends on a busy road, by the time you hit the road you will be close to Deba and ready to finish the hike.Show more
