Jirisan National Park, which expands through three provinces and five cities is Korea's first ever designated national park. It is also the largest park in South Korea. Jirisan is also known to be one of three legendary mountains in Korea. The biodiversity in Jirisan is vast, there are over 4,000 species inhabiting the park. Byeonsanbando National Park is the only national park that has both mountains and the sea. It is divided into two sections, Naebyeonsan, the inner section full of mountains and Oebyeonsan, the coastal areas along the sea. Because of its different environments, Byeonsanbando inhabits a vast variety of flora and fauna. Some notable ones include: Silver magnolia, Horned holly, and White forsythia. These three wild plant species are also categorized under Korea's National Treasures. As a heavily trafficked park, visitors flock Byeonsanbando for its scenic beauty, unique rock formations, rolling plains, and spectacular mountain peaks. Byeonsanbando is also known to be the best place to watch the sunset since this is the last place the sun goes down in Korea. Show more
