Allow 8 hours to reach the summit and return. Start and finish the trail at the Witfontein Forestry station just outside George. No fee is currently payable but registration / permit must be completed at the forestry station. Parking is available there. There is a short section of scrambling near the summit where care must be exercised and it would not be recommended to attempt this in bad weather. An alternative trail ( no scrambling ) can be taken at the saddle by turning right to George peak ( 1337m asl ). Turning left at the saddle will lead to Cradock peak ( 1578m asl ). The total trail distance out and back is 18.4kms.

Great hike in the city. Well marked and amazing 360 degree views. Moderate is the right rating as there are some sections with exposure. More difficult routes with scrambling options available. If you want to find Wally's Cave: go past the first ladder (do not go up it), go the old bench and go DOWN to the LEFT, traverse until you see an opportunity to scramble up to the right. If you go too high you'll end up on a flat lookout with a steep drop off

Hike this one in the spring and you'll be rewarded with streams and wildflowers. The views at the top are incredible.

Awesome trail! Beware...if you follow this route turn by turn, there is a ton of rock climbing up some slippery paths. Be sure to wear waterproof shoes, as there are some soggy spots. We took the cable car down the other side. Overall pretty demanding trail but the views are worth it!
