The views are neither majestic nor superb. But the fact that you have climb on trees and hop over rocks to get to the other side of the small river, and the fact that you can paddle in the infamous Loch Ness was enough for the kids to make this small trip a 4star trail. So we agreed on that.

Fantastic trail- very easy to follow, with a gorgeous view of the Loch at the turning point in the loop. I was looking for something quick and easy to do while waiting for Urquhart castle to open and this was perfect.

You can also do this as an out-and-back, doing the first two munros and then retracing. There are some suggested "shortcuts" on the return through a corrie that drops off your right. Watch yourself. One, it's Scotland and the weather can get downright dangerous and two, there are several place where it appears as though you've found a trail. You haven't I made a wrong turn and ended up cross-country. It's the only time I've been concerned for my safety on a munro. My treasured boots gave their life that day!

The first two thirds are lovely with gorgeous views of Loch Ness and beautiful wooded sections. The last third is not a hiking trail but miles of road walking with no coverage to protect from the sun or the elements. It takes a long time to finally close in on Drumnadrochit.

I’m not sure we walked on the actual trail since we couldn’t find the trailhead. The Culloden Battlefield and Moor trail was beautiful, however

An amazing trail suitable for all ages!

lovely gentle walk around the battle field

I would recommend this trail to anyone who wants to take a relaxed, leasurely hike. Great for a family walk with small children.

Easy flat short walk, very nice.

An absolute gem! Only 2 miles from town center but miles away from the crowds. Forest hike with expansive views at old fort. Paths easy to follow. Highly recommend.

Easy but close to town. Interesting archeological site to see as well.

An easy walk out to a beautiful view of Loch Ness where you can dip your toes. With the bridge out, you have to do some exciting scrambling across a beaver dam to get to the beach, but it's well-worth the effort!
