This is a fantastic hike, unbelievable countryside, beautiful. However, I would not recommend this as a circular route for a mountain biker. The uphill after the river crossing (Derry Burn) is extremely hard, boggy, narrow and uneven. We used our bikes for approx 20% of the uphill and had to turn round at Derry Bridge (Ford). BTW The bridge is closed! due to flood damage, but we carried our bikes through the river. On the downhill, we took the better path on the other side of the river (east) and that was slightly better.

Unwittingly been doing this loop for years while staying at the Glen Nevis campsite. Can be a tough climb up the path from the hostel to meet the mountain trail, would recommend going the opposite way if you’d prefer an easier assent - either way walking boots are a must for grip. Great views and often a good chance to chat with people just coming off the mountain.

Great walk. Steep sections in the first half were a bit punishing but worth it by the end.

BackpackingBugsGreat!RockyScramble

Great hike, we followed the direction given in the map. We were fortunate enough to get a clear day/night with stunning views and no wind. We camped at the summit of Cairn Bannoch where we caught an excellent sunset and sunrise. The Broad Cairn offered stunning views well above the clouds in the morning sun also. Would highly recommend, paths are fairly visible and easy to follow.
