The Lavra Trail is a popular hiking route that has been walked by numerous pilgrims. It starts from the center of Moscow and it goes all the way to Trinity Lavra of St.Sergius, a 14th-century Orthodox monastery. It consists of both trails and paved roads, the walk can be done as a one way trip where you either stay in hotels or camp, or you can choose to take on the segments one at a time, returning home each night. Churches, creeks, forest, aqueducts, and rivers are just a few of the beautiful sights you will see along the walk. At the Iver Chapel in Moscow you can pick up a "passport" which will be stamped at various points along the way. After completion, visit the Tourist Information Centre in Sergiev Posad to receive your certificate for completing the route. Show more

The trail combines two hiking routes of the "Gorki Gorod" ski resort "Alpine meadows" & "Medvezhiy waterfall". Both are quite short. So combining them makes it more fun. You are starting on the top of the K3 cable cart, making an out and back hike in Cirque 1, then go down to see the waterfall and can end your walk at K4 cable cartShow more

The whole route you are walking in the pine forest. The landscape is unusual, constant elevation, ravines, and hills. Along the route, you cross several times the ridge of Väryämänselkä with gaining and dropping altitude. Part of the route passes along the steep slope of the Volchya River. The route crosses the river twice and runs next to the abandoned small hydroelectric power station. The dam is still in good condition and looks impressive. On the route, there are several springs and equipped parking lots where you can have a snack. Camping is prohibited on the territory of the reserveShow more

To reach the start of the trail use A3 cable car from Alpika service station in Esto-Sadok. The trail is on the territory of the Caucasian Biosphere Reserve. You will need to pay a visit fee. Some years you can buy it directly at Alpika service station, some year you will need to visit cordon Laura (details: http://kgpbz.ru/pass)Show more
