Once you get out of Moscow the trail really shows it’s colors, in our case, the autumn yellow of the many forests that you pass through. There are no major uphills, and the you can easily access food from town or hotels if you don’t feel like camping. Blue spray paint on trees is used to mark the forest sections of the trail which is convenient as you want to save battery on your phone. The trail passes by many historical sites and walking through the villages gives you a glimpse of local life. It’s a good trail for people wanting to try out multiple day hikes.

Also partially the route is recorded on video: https://youtu.be/GBf545zOY_0 And there is a photo in Alive. magazine: <iframe style="max-width: 100%" src="https://radchenia.livejournal.com/1302.html?embed" width="502" height="301" frameborder="0"></iframe>

Hike from the source of Klyazma to Maidarovo. I walked in mid-April, but it’s better to go at the end, since there is still a lot of snow in the forest, which made it difficult to pass as a whole. You can get to the source like this: by train of the Leningrad direction to the station. Povarovo 1, from there by taxi to the SNT Veteran of the Armed Forces, where you will meet a 2-meter fence. Further only on foot, through impassable forests near Moscow, about 3 km. In short, for the crazy. The speed averaged around 2-2.5 km / h. Everything bothered: snowdrifts, fallen trees, lack of roads, swamps, bogs, other streams and wild settlers in SNT. Sometimes the trampled animal trails helped, along which at least somehow it was possible to go.

This park is heavily trafficked by the residence of Perm. However, most of the pedestrian traffic stays in the central area allowing crowd free mountain biking and trail running in the Southwest portions of the forest. One word of caution, the perimeters of the forest are home to transients with some alcohol and drug use prevalent. That said, this is an excellent city park with many options for both the trail runner and mountain biker.
