We combined 3/4 different marked trails to make this loop that covered the lost world sinkholes, the glacier ice caves and a fairly technical descent and ascent to the Cetatile Portaruile cave. It had recently rained which made the rocky paths very slippy in places. All in all a lovely hike the covered most of the sites in one 8hr day!

HikingGreat!

The first portion of this trail is a dirt road and you will interact with cars driving to a camping site (with restaurant) 1/3 of the way up the trail. The portion from camping to the ochiul bei and cascada beusnitei is a lovely trail. It is very clean. I traveled this trail on a Friday in early October and interacted with 30-40 other hikers.

This was the 2nd half of the circuit. It was lovely, not difficult. Be careful some areas are hunting areas, make your presence visible or audible to avoid accidents. I made some shortcuts

Nice walk, however the Lake Urlea is not part of the itinerary displayed here so it was confusing to still find this trail with the 'lake' filter Second, I strongly recommend not to do a loop but just a back and forth and start the track on the right. Indeed if you go left at the beginning, after an hour the track gets very damaged by the river and you'll need to put your feet in the water to get back on track after a few meters.

HikingMuddyRocky

It’s a great trail to get up to the Brasov sign and beyond for some gorgeous views. If it’s recently rained, just trail becomes muddy but it’s also a clay like mud so that with the slick rocks makes the trail quite slick, so just be aware. The little out and back at before beginning the loop back to the trailhead is a little confusing for me. There are some great trails back there that could be explored more, but I don’t know why the turnaround is where it is unless it’s just to make the distance a round 3.5 miles. Just don’t expect a viewpoint at that out and back turnaround. On the other hand, if you have time, keep going and explore the nice trails on that side of the mountain.

Long and gentle-slope hiking up the mountain. The trail is covered by trees but not too dense. There are several turns that you can take a quick stop. The final stop, at the top looking down to the city, is incredible!

Băneasa forest is still the widest green space in Bucharest’s administrative territory, 3 to 4 times the size of Herăstrău and Tineretului parks. Băneasa Forest borders Tunari Forest and together they make up a microclimate for the area. Here, the temperature is a few degrees lower than in downtown Bucharest. This is Bucharest’s only forest, offering a breath of fresh air, and it is also a good place to go running or cycling along short routes. The infrastructure could use some improvements, from indicators to ecological benches and even lighting. Even more so, a series of courts for sport and other similar activities would come in handy. https://izi.travel/it/e5e2-baneasa-forest/en

Lacul Morii ("Mill Lake") is the largest lake in Bucharest, with an area of 246 ha. The lake is approximately 6 km from the center of Bucharest (Piața Unirii) and is located between: Polytechnic University of Bucharest neighborhood to the East, Crangaşi and Giulești districts at North, Militari district at South. The type of it is accumulation lake, made in 1986 mainly to protect the city against floods.[3] It is also a recreation area. It provides a constant flow on Dâmboviţa river in the capital. The lake was built by a dam 15 m high, with a central body of concrete, earth dams extended lengthwise with a total length of 7 km. Lake volume is 14.7 million m³, with a flood mitigation portion of 1.6 million m³, beyond the normal retention. Effectively, to mitigate flooding, the lake volume can be increased when floods are predicted. Making a lake near an urban area required decommissioning of existing uses, including demolition and decommissioning of a church. On the south of Lacul Morii there is a peninsula. Projects for Lacul Morii There are projects to make Lacul Morii a travel destination. There are also projects to make the Lacul Morii area a modern residential, commercial and business area. Another project is a highway tunnel which will link Lacul Morii to the Civic Center (Piața Unirii) and the A1 freeway.

I enjoyed very much this walk in Herastrau Park. It took me almost 2 hours and the weather was fantastic. I stopped at every interesting spot to take some pictures and to know more about this place. It was very relaxing to do it. If you come to Bucharest, enjoy this park with many tourist attractions.
