Passadiços do Paiva is a walk along a wooden footpath through the gorge that has carved the Paiva river. You can start the walk in Espiunca or Areinho. We recommend starting in Areinho, because then you descend outside of the first steep climb, mainly along the valley. This makes the walk much less difficult and you have more time to enjoy the surroundings. It is best to reserve your ticket online, because the hiking trail is so popular that people often close it due to too many visitors. Tickets cost just € 1 per person, so you should definitely not leave it at that. A taxi ride of € 18 will take you back to your starting point. You do not have to do the walk there and back. Thanks to the comfortable hiking trail, young and old can enjoy a day trip in a rugged gorge. Passadiços do Paiva is a major project. It is unbelievable how people have been able to construct such a beautiful walking trail over a distance of eight kilometers. It must have taken man and power to get this job done. A really good example of craftsmanship. A transparent hanging bridge is being built over the gorge. A suspension bridge with a span of 480 meters at a height of 150 meters with transparent floor. Not for people who are afraid of heights. Many are already shouting it from the rooftops. Once the new suspension bridge opens, this will be one of the most beautiful walks in the world. With thousands (!) of visitors a day, people are often already at their limits. Moreover, the access roads to the park are insufficient.Show more

Part of the trail is by the river where you can see several waterfalls. It is recommended to do this trail in the spring, because during the summer the waterfalls do not have much water. In some parts of this trail you will have to use cables to cross the river. It is easier to make the course anti-clockwise.Show more

The Paradela bike path starts at the old Paradela railway station and runs for a pleasant 6 km along the Vouga River, ending at the mouth of the Mau River. The route is all painted asphalt. The landscape is very beautiful. In a fruitful partnership between the Municipality of Sever do Vouga and Refer, the old Vouga railway line (Sernada do Vouga - S. Pedro do Sul) was rehabilitated. As such, the whole route is little bumpy and in addition to the company of the beautiful and cool Vouga River, there are several tunnels, and a fantastic bridge over the Vouga River. In spring there are several small waterfalls along the way and many flowers. One of the best Portuguese bike paths.Show more
