A trip along the Algarve coast from Praia da Marinha in the east to Praia Vale de Centianes. The trail includes a variety of beaches and caves to explore. It can be walked from either direction and includes many signs on posts or painted rocks to guide the way.Show more

This is probably the best hike on the whole island and also the most popular. An early start is recommended as on Madeira the high mountains are free of cloud. The cloud seems to gather on the tops around early afternoon. There are no buses to the start and it is best done as a one way walk and to that end transport is required from Teixeira. Taxi is the best way, the drivers will drop you off at the start and will arrange a time to pick you up at the end (on your way back they will stop at several places of interest). There are several companies that offer both transport and a guide but to be honest a guide is not needed as the path is straight forward. Allow 5 hours.Show more

The Trail of the Headlands (Caminho dos Promontórios) is a six-kilometre walk, inaugurated in 2018, from Carvoeiro to Ferragudo along the cliff tops, following a rugged coastline of rocks shaped by the waves and wind, which has resulted in promontories, small cove beaches and the distinctive arches, caves, galleries, sinkholes and sea stacks which are prevalent along this part of the coast.Show more
