The trail of closed railway lines: Ostróda - Miłomłyn. The railway line No. 257, 11.4 km long, connected Ostróda with Miłomłyn. The railway track with standard gauge gauge - 1435 mm, has never been electrified. Single track. The line was opened in 1893, closed for passenger traffic in 1992, and for freight in 1994. The last special train passed this way in 2006 (SN61 bus). In October 2006 the line was demolished :( On the route a few hundred meters behind the Ostróda station, a bridge over the isthmus of Drwęckie Lake, with a preserved track fragment. Further in two places a bridgehead of the old viaducts. Poorly legible under the snow cover traces of the Piławka stop located in the middle of the forest. Partial demolition in front of Miłomłyn a few years ago, the viaduct over the Miłomłyn - Liwa road. Complete station buildings in Miłomłyn. Beautiful, frosty weather (-12 degrees) added charm to the walk.Show more

For: http://www.kogis.pl/oferta/atrakcje/sciezka_dydaktyczna_ilawa_-_jez_jasne/ Forest educational trail in the landscape park of the Iława Lake District. The Iława Lake District Landscape Park and its buffer zone are mostly located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship. Only the fragment covering the commune of Stary Dzierzgoń belongs to the Pomeranian Voivodeship. The park was created in 1993. The park is characterized by a young glacial landscape with a large proportion of dense forest complexes. Subcontinental hornbeam and mixed forests prevail. The hydrographic network is well developed. The numerous lakes of the park, together with the surrounding forest complex, constitute a collection of unique resources of fauna and flora. The park has the longest lake in the country - Jeziorak (27.5 km). In the Iławskie Lakeland Landscape Park, the Susz Forestry District has built a Forest Educational Path. The path was built in lake forestry near the town of Jeziorno and it has its beginning in the parking lot by the Iława - Jerzwałd road. The path is about 3 km long, and it takes about 2 hours to walk. In the area it was marked in green similar to PTTK tourist routes. In addition, the Susz Forest District marked a walking route around Lake Jasne (1.5 km long and marked in yellow). 14 information boards have been set up throughout the "Educational Path", the purpose of which is to familiarize tourists with the processes taking place in the forests. At the beginning of the route, a board with a map is set up, which presents the economic forest of the Susz Forest District and the "Jasne" nature reserve. Another table informs about damage caused by deer in the forest. On the third table we get information about larch plantation in Poland. The next boards inform the tourist about various concepts used by foresters in forests such as: logging, forest, forest floors, etc. The tourist from subsequent information boards learns about hunting devices, dead trees, and Lake Czarne (water lilies grow on his water surface yellow, and the banks are heavily overgrown, two species of water snails live in the water), etc. For young naturalists, for tourists coming here on bicycles, the path is an opportunity for active rest and at the same time learning the secrets of the forest.Show more

Length: 7.5 mi
A short bike ride along the trail of Masurian Old Believers. The route leads from Gałków to Wojnów and back. According to the website: http://www.p guidesnik.e-mazury.com.pl/wojnowo/: Old Believers, Old Believers, Raskolnicy, not reformed branch of the Orthodox Church. His clergy led by the protopop Awwakum did not accept the changes introduced by Patriarch Nikon in 1653. They consisted in the unification of rituals (including the introduction of Greek rites where there were local differences). Awwakuma and his family were exiled to Siberia, where in 1682 he was burned alive. After the persecution that led to the extermination of the unreformed clergy, Old Believers divided into popists and bezopowców: the first, with the help of the Serbian-Bosnian metropolitan bishop Ambroży, created their own church hierarchy in 1846 in Biała Krynica in Bukowina. Others stated that God had taken the sacraments from people and that the only spiritual guide could be Christ. They founded groups that isolate themselves from official organizations and indulge in asceticism (toil). In 1905, the number of Old Believers in Russia was estimated at around 20 million. Currently there are approx. 3 million, mainly in Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, America and Australia. The history of Masurian Old Believers is closely related to the monastery in Wojnów. The first mention of the monastery comes from 1836 when Lavrentij Rastropin (1762-1851) founded a hermitage on the shores of Lake Duś. Then in 1847 it was transformed into a monastery. Mikhail Chawronin became the first prior. Two years later, the monastery in Wojnów became a branch of the famous center of Old Believers in Moscow. The monastery developed most dynamically in the years 1852-1867 during the times of prior Paweł Pruski (Pieter Iwanowicz Lendiew, 1821-1895). In 1885, the nun Eupraksja came to Wojna, who later bought the monastery. Then nuns from Russia came to the monastery in Wojnowo. In 1968, Leon Ludwikowski became the owner of the monastery, who undertook to look after two nuns living in the monastery. Currently, the monastery is the property of Mr. Krzysztof Ludwikowski (son of the previous owner). The current appearance of the monastery is due to its current owners. In the prayer part of the monastery there are icons, a 3.5-meter silver-plated chandelier from 1910 and liturgical books. Other buildings that formerly belonged to the monastery were converted into an agritourism farm. Old Believers from the village of Wojnowo are buried in the monastery cemetery. Old Believers' cemeteries can also be found in Gałków.Show more
