One of my favorite short Yosemite hikes. Be careful...you will encounter bison. We were completely surrounded after the bison came down from a ridge. Played it cool and the bison really paid us no mind. Such an amazing experience.

Tiny parking lot, short but beautiful. The lake is small but there are fish. Had the trial all to ourselves. The mountains and meadows reflecting off the lake didn’t look real. It was perfect. Accidentally walked up the backside of the lake straight into a sunbathing bison. He was nice. I backed away slowly and all was well. Thank you for hospitality and not trampling me mister or miss or gender neutral bison! Happy trekking.

Bear tracks

Hiked in summer during trout spawning. Go early to avoid the crowds, the pull off for parking is small.

Mini backcountry camp. Very muddy around lake. Be ready for mosquitos.

This trail was my first overnight hike ever! It was beautiful! The thermal features getting to the lake were also a treat!

Great place to snowshoe and get lost in the magic and solitude of the Park during winter! Went 11/30 and got a late start, about 2:15pm, so only did a small portion of the trail, out and back.

A super easy scenic trail. Started late but no issues. Spotted a coyote and if course, bison.

The hike in is nice and downhill. You are hiking through the valley so there are definitely gorgeous views the whole way and we saw some wildlife too. It was a pretty exhausting trip back up. The end is this cool bridge over Yellowstone River but I probably wouldn’t hike it again.

We only hiked about half way around the lake in late August. The trail travels thru forested areas and open meadows. We saw on large black bear running full speed across the meadow and up into the tree line before we even reached the lake. Head counterclockwise around the lake back thru dense forested areas, and eventually opening back up to views of the lake. Camped at DR2 a beautiful large site with amazing views of sunset and sunrise over the lake. Small path down to the shore to the lake to filter water. A pit latrine a distance from the campsite.

1 small tree to climb over. some of the pathway is a bit overgrown, and one spot is right next to the water. only other visitors were a couple of big cats. They walked most of the trail together.

couldn't see the lower falls. overall nice hike pretty views

pretty good trail with an excellent overlook of the falls, hiked during a snowstorm, really makes everything seem surreal

10/08/19: This is a great short steep hike to a pretty little lake. Take time to explore around the lake. Amazing views and saw pair of nesting geese hunkered down before snowstorm that is heading in to area.

Amazing hike today! Highlight of trip was a badger near the junction to Specimen Ridge Trail. Sat and watched her for 15 minutes. Also spotted Bald Eagles, elk and grizzly in the distant. Very snowy and muddy but warmed up to 34 so very comfortable besides wet feet.

We hiked up from Warm Creek. Steep hike for 1.5 miles but then you’re in beautiful pebble creek meadow. Trail was snow covered and at higher elevation about ankle deep. We saw a ton of fresh tracks including mountain lion and moose. The first open area at rock slide is great place to sit and have a snack.

Great little hike and lake a good place for a picnic.

The drive along the lake is super pretty, especially the Absaroka Range.

To me the best part about this hike was the field in the very beginning. Otherwise, the trail was alongside a bunch of fire burned trees, and the view from ice lake was just “eh”. I think I may have just had higher expectations just from the previous hikes in the area. We didn’t pass a single hiker, which was nice. The waterfall is also pretty... but like I said, I probably wouldn’t be super excited to hike this again.

Did just a portion of the trail in out and back fashion for about 1.5 hours and enjoyed it very much. Started at the trail head around the middle of Lamar Valley. Great feeling being in this open space, Lots of bison in the distance. Saw bear footprints by the river but no bear encounter.

The path from slough to soldiers is non existent. Have to make your own trail in some kinda sketchy areas. Have to cross the river twice ( thigh high water)

Did most of this trail yesterday, felt exposed on the open plan, saw a number of bison in the distance and one lone one seemed to follow us out along the stock route where we started. Saw lots of evidence, paw

Great trail

Awesome thermal features, terrific canyon views! Decently steep and difficult hike. This hike had my favorite views in Yellowstone.
