Upper Lake was great.Leg burner for the last quarter mile. Don't look for campsites by the lake but pick your birds nest north of the lake by abandoned outhouse. Plenty of knobs to choose from.

I just completed this trail, with my 5 year old. we had a blast. I would definitely recommend it..

We got all the way to the cave with our 3 year old and 1 year old. The wildflowers in the meadow at the top were unreal. It was a tough hike, but so worth it! The cave was so neat!

Great hike with beautiful view. We hike on September 8th so we missed the flowers bloomed but the leaves started changing colors make up for it. The cave was cold so bring along jacket. The distance on my record is over 7 Miles round trip.

Amazing place for a horse ride. Absolutely beautiful!!!!! Not for novice horses or riders.

Beautiful hike, beautiful day. It felt like a more-than-moderate hike, however. The last pitch to the cave is steep but WORTH every step!

Awesome hike! We went on September 6th so we didn’t run into much water. It was easy to get into the cave since there was not much runoff. We started our hike around 10:30 and didn’t encounter many people until we started to make our way back. Challenging going up all the switchbacks but definitely worth it!

we hiked this the first of July and got snowed out near the top. creek was running super high and made it difficult to cross.

pretty walk and well maintained trail. not alot of people. I recommend it!

Awesome hike and super easy! I would recommend leaving early in the morning because the trail gets very busy during the day. Might be harder with kids but doable. The cave is cold so bring a jacket!

Awesome hike. Camped at the horseman's camp by Boone Creek, then woke up early and hiked this trail. It's about a 1-hour drive East of Ashton, ID. The trail is in great shape and has some wonderful views. Even with my young boys, it was about 1 hour or less each way.

The cave was worth it. Lots of switch backs so trail not too steep but definitely got a workout. Great views along the way but car ride to trailhead was pretty bumpy. Tracked it at 6.8 miles.

A fun trip to do with friends! We hiked up to the upper lake 2 weeks ago and loved the scenery along the trail. I suggest leaving early in the morning to start the day off cool and to have plenty of time to hike. Also take plenty of water. We ran out of water on the way back and ended up filling our bottles with running river water. The river water tasted great, but I don’t recommend drinking it without a filter.

Better than I expected - but also longer than I expected. We didn't track the mileage but I agree with all saying it had to be closer to 7 or 8 miles round trip. The cave was awesome. We didn't go very far in.

I LOVE this hike. It’s a hike that makes you feel so satisfied when you get to the upper lake. Not very many steep parts, beautiful views of meadows, mountains, water and wildlife. I try to do this hike at least once every year. This is by far my favorite hike ever.

I biked this trial on a Saturday morning. I only saw one person on the way out and a few on the way back. It is a slight incline on the way out, the entire time. So coming back down is a breeze. Bring bear spray.

Very nice hike. Definitely more than 5.5 miles. Our Apple Watch logged in 9.2 round trip. The last stretch of the hike before you get to the cave is very strenuous. Going up to cave is really cool....some people went deeper into cave, but it isn’t necessary if you dont want to. After working up a sweat from the hike you actually get cold in the cave. Views amazing.

Easy hike, lots of thimble berries and frogs.

Love this hike! It's one of my favorites. My kids love to catch frogs at the lake.

My family and I love this little hike. Kid friendly, and beautiful.

Definitely a great trail. Easy for folks used to elevation, moderate or challenging for tourists. Always a great run!

This is definitely NOT moderate. i would say moderate+ to hard. and it was more like 7-8 miles not 5.3. beautiful views and flowers. mostly uphill the whole way up.

I hiked the Alaska Basin Trail in the 1st week of August and the wildflowers were in full bloom, a really gorgeous variety of colors and shapes. Instead of doing the loop I went north on the Teton Crest Trail to the junction with the Cascade Canyon Trail for really spectacular panoramic views of the Tetons. For the return to camp I tried to go down the 3.3-mile trail shown on Alltrails as connecting that junction with a point at the 1-mile mark on the Alaska Basin Trail. I learned the hard way that any trail that may have been there decades ago is no longer maintained or used after the 1st 500' of elevation drop from the high point. This trail should be removed from Alltrails to save others from making the same mistake I made.

Finally got to explore waterfall canyon this past weekend on a 3-day/2-night backpacking trip with the Scout troop. It's worth every step of the trail to get there. The trail is filled with forest canopy, rolling meadow, snow line, and then at somewhere around 7,800 feet... Beautiful waterfalls on either side of the canyon and a reported third (my treat for next year's trip) just a little further down the trail. I could have spent a lot more time enjoying the canyon!

7 miles is actually closer. Messing around at the cave and everything showed me at 7.5 miles by the time I stopped my watch.

This was a great hike with nice views. We ran out of water on the way up but refilled our bottles from the falls at the top. Only giving 4 stars because we went too early in order to access the caves (too much snow at the top - June 10th, 2018)

Gorgeous trail!!! One of my favorites. Blankets of wildflowers and lush greenery in July.

Beautiful hike. Lots of shade. Bring a jacket for the cave

Scenic hike along the river with good opportunities to see wildlife.

It was a perfect hike for young kids. Between my sister’s kids and mine, we had five children from ages 3-9. About 1 mile in we saw a little trail down to the creek and the kids had a blast. They even got wet trying to cross on fallen trees and it was no problem since we were so close to the cars.

I would definitely go back and go farther if I didn’t have the kids.
